There was a very special welcome waiting for 2gether Support Solutions porter Paul at QEQM today. 😊

After completing his incredible run between three hospital sites across east Kent, he was greeted by his colleagues - and it was clear just how much the moment meant to him.

From patient to porter, Paul took on this challenge to give back to the NHS teams who once cared for him. Today, now a porter at the same hospital that saved his life, his colleagues - who have become friends - were there to celebrate one of their own. 🏃‍♂️👏

A truly emotional homecoming, and a beautiful reminder that behind every hospital team are people who care deeply for each other. 💙

Spotlight on: East Kent Hospitals Charity

East Kent Hospitals Charity is dedicated to making a real difference to patients, visitors and staff, by raising and managing funds to support projects that go beyond what standard NHS funding can provide.

The Charity funds projects across all five EKHUFT hospitals, from innovative medical equipment and patient welfare initiatives to staff education and wellbeing, building improvements and refurbishment. These projects help create better experiences for patients and their families, support the people who work in our hospitals, and improve the environments in which care is delivered.

Last year alone, the Charity funded projects worth more than half a million pounds. The Charity’s work is only possible thanks to the generosity of local communities, fundraisers, individuals and businesses. Whether through making a donation, raising awareness or organising a fundraising event, like Paul Cozens is, every contribution can help make a positive difference.

By supporting East Kent Hospitals Charity, we can help make our hospitals better places for everyone who uses and works in them.

This morning colleagues gathered to see our inspiring Porter, Paul Cozens, take the first steps of his Ultra Marathon, starting from William Harvey Hospital!

We wish Paul all the best for his run and we’ll be checking in with him at K&CH, before he heads to the finish line at QEQM!

Tomorrow we get to cheer on one of our Porters as he runs between the William Harvey Hospital, Kent & Canterbury Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother hospital in Margate in aid of The East Kent Hospitals Charity.

Congratulations to Sapphire Bushell and Steph Jaramillo, supply chain assistants in theatres at WHH, who were nominated by numerous members of the theatre team for a 2gether Star Award.

Ed Curtin, theatre matron, said: “Huge congratulations to Steph and Saph on winning this award.

“Their hard work, dedication and positive attitude keep our busy store room running smoothly every day.

“Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they consistently go above and beyond to support the team.

“They not only make a huge difference operationally but also bring fun, positivity and a great team spirit to the department. We are incredibly lucky to have them, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.”
