There’s something about getting out on the trails that changes the while experience of running.

The pace slows down.

You notice where you’re putting your feet.

You stop worrying about your watch.

You breathe.

You look around.

And if you’re running with your dog, chances are they’re having the time of their life! 🐾

This is why I love trail running.

In case you didn't know, all the Ridge Runners events are Canicross friendly! 🐾 With a great variety of distances available throughout the year and all local to us! What's not to love about that! Next on the calender is the Machen half and full trail marathon on November 28th, still places available!

Does your four-legged friend like to run as much as you do? All of our races, including Machen Trail Races, offer the opportunity to register as a Cani-cross entrant 🐕

Yesterday we had the pleasure of a great 1:1 session with Sarah and the gorgeous Rolo, a 4.5 yr old sprocker. After having some time off running sometimes you just need a refresher to get back in to it, and we can certainly help with that! Smiles all round yesterday 😃

“What actually happens during a Canicross Taster Session?”

Never tried Canicross before?

Here’s what happens during my 1:1 intro sessions:

We talk about you and your dog
I help you with the equipment
You can borrow the kit you need
We learn some basic cues
We talk about safety
We start at YOUR pace
Then we head out onto the trails

You don’t have to arrive knowing what you’re doing.
That’s literally what I’m there for 😉

A great day today, taking part in a trial trail event for the Caerphilly Challenge Series next year. Advertised as a walking event, this was the Sultans Challenge. A 17.5km self-led loop. Max and I decided to run it and had a beautiful day. Look out for it next year everyone! A nice mix of mostly trail, fell, and a bit of road.

What - a - morning!! ☺️

Feeling immense gratitude that I got the last minute opportunity to join this event this morning at Llandaff Rowing Club and then after at . Hosted by Again with Davina and Monzo thank you! 🙏

Thoroughly enjoyed saying a big fat YES to breathwork and then sauna and cold dipping afterwards. What a beautiful location, a beautiful experience with beautiful people.

What a fabulous afternoon today! Macsen and I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Karen and Ziggy, a gorgeous Australian Labradoodle for a 1:1 Canicross Taster session. We had fun out on the trails teaching some of the basics and learning some commands. As Ziggy is such a good boy at keeping at heal with his Mum we had to introduce some different tactics to get him to pull out front but he got there! Some dogs naturally want to pull out front, some don’t but there are several things you can do to help them and all you can do is practice! ☺️
