It’s been a month since my brain tumour surgery, and I’m recovering well.
Thank you so much for all the kind messages and support - and of course to the amazing NHS, which I got to experience up close.
This past month has been humbling and full of learning - especially around the power of nature and its awe-inspiring lessons on growth and interconnectedness.
I’ve been finding my balance (literally and metaphorically), learning to pace myself, practising acceptance, and allowing myself to be supported - a reminder that it really does take a village.
There’s something about being forced to slow down that brings a different perspective on what really matters… and how I take care of myself.
I’ll be sharing more reflections on this in my newsletter next week, along with updates on the How are you REALLY? range (let’s just say for starters that the physio team in Bristol are now using them for team check ins!). Taking this time to reflect and capture what I’m learning is my way to begin to gently re-enter the world of work (in between resting and rebuilding my strength).

Today I’m noticing where I am compared with a check-in I did shortly after surgery.
Day 3 post surgery
🌱Physically - never been so exhausted and no control of my left side
🌱Intellectually - slow, narrow but functioning
🌱Emotionally - overwhelmed and very tearful
🌱Spiritually - Scared
…
Today
🌿Physically healing, tired
🌿Intellectually still slower and processing,
🌿Emotionally grateful and happy, soft
🌿Spiritually trusting.
I’ve needed to retreat and also missed the connection - so wondering How are you REALLY? How’s your April been?
