Plenty of people sit on a health question for months because it doesn't feel important enough to book an appointment for. A niggle that comes and goes, a change you've noticed, or something you read online that's stuck with you.

Those are exactly the things worth bringing up. Asking means you're not left wondering, and you'll come away knowing where you stand.

For West End Health Members, 30-minute appointments mean there's room for the small questions as well as the big ones, without ever feeling like you're taking up someone's time. Not a Member yet? A Trial Appointment with one of our expert GPs is a good way to experience the difference for yourself.

October is ADHD Awareness Month. One of the biggest misunderstandings is that ADHD is something only children have, or that it always looks like being hyperactive.

For a lot of adults it's quieter than that. It might be a mind that never switches off, starting lots of things but struggling to finish them, or always running late despite trying hard not to. It's often missed in women and girls, and many people only start to wonder about it later in life, sometimes after their own child is diagnosed.

What matters is whether these things have been there since childhood and get in the way of everyday life, at work, at home or in relationships. Everyone loses their keys now and again.

If this sounds familiar, speaking to your GP is a good first step. They can talk it through with you and explain the options for an assessment.

Today is World Menopause Day, a good moment to talk about the support that's out there.

There's no single approach that works for everyone. For some women, HRT makes a big difference. Others prefer non-hormonal treatments, changes to sleep, exercise or diet, or talking therapies like CBT, which can help with things like low mood and hot flushes. Often it's a mix, and what works for you might change over time.

What matters is having a GP who takes the time to understand what you're going through and talks through the options with you, so you can decide what feels right.

For West End Health Members, 30-minute appointments mean there's time to do exactly that. Not a Member yet? A Trial Appointment is a good way to experience the difference for yourself.

Today is World Mental Health Day. Opening up about how you're feeling isn't always easy, especially if you're used to being the one who keeps everything going.

It doesn't have to be a big conversation. Telling a friend you've not been yourself lately, messaging someone you trust, or going for a walk and letting it come out naturally can all be a start. Sometimes just saying it out loud makes it feel more manageable.

If things have felt hard for a while, or you're not sure where to turn, your GP can help you work out what support might suit you.

And if you need to talk to someone right now, Samaritans are free and open 24 hours on 116 123. In Wales, you can also call the CALL mental health helpline on 0800 132 737, or text "help" to 81066.

October is National Cholesterol Month. It's a good time to find out a number a lot of people have never checked.

Cholesterol is a fatty substance your body needs, but too much of the wrong kind can build up in your blood vessels over time and raise your risk of heart disease and stroke. What you eat, how active you are, smoking and alcohol all play a part, and for some people high cholesterol runs in the family, however healthy their lifestyle.

Once you know your levels, you've got something to work with. Small changes to diet and activity can make a real difference, and your GP can talk you through whether anything else might help.

Every adult Member has a cholesterol check as part of their annual health assessment, with time to go through the results properly with a GP. Not a Member yet? A Trial Appointment is a good way to experience the difference for yourself.

We’re pleased to introduce Dr Tomos Shaw, our most recent addition to the West End Health clinical team.

Dr Tomos is a GP Partner with a background in emergency medicine and critical care.

He studied medicine at St George's, University of London, then completed foundation training and a clinical fellowship in medicine and intensive care in Sussex. He went on to spend two years in emergency medicine, critical care and anaesthetics in Australia before training in general practice in North Wales.

He has a particular interest in sports and exercise medicine. He is a match day doctor for Rygbi Gogledd Cymru and teaches clinical and communication skills at North Wales Medical School.

Menopause affects every woman differently. For many, the changes start years before periods actually stop, usually in their 40s. This stage is called perimenopause.

Because the symptoms can be so varied, they're easy to put down to something else. Feeling anxious when you never used to, forgetting words mid-sentence, periods becoming heavier or less regular, or just not feeling like yourself can all be linked to changing hormones.

If you're not sure what's going on, it can help to jot down what you've noticed and when, so you've got something to go on when you speak to a GP.

For West End Health Members, 30-minute appointments mean there's time to go through it all properly and talk about the options that might suit you. Not a Member yet? A Trial Appointment is a good way to experience the difference for yourself.

Breasts naturally change over the month and over the years too, which is why getting to know what's normal for you makes such a difference when you check.

Try to check at the same time each month, as breasts can feel lumpier or more tender at different points in your cycle. Picking a date that's easy to remember, like the first of the month, can help you stick with it.

Save this post so you've got it to hand next time. And if anything feels different, book in to see your GP straight away. For West End Health Members, 30-minute appointments mean you'll never feel rushed.

Stoptober is a campaign that runs every October, encouraging people who smoke to stop for the whole month. The idea is that if you can get through 28 days smoke-free, you're in a much better position to stop for good.

Whether it's your first try or you've lost count of how many times you've tried before, it's a good excuse to give it a go. Your body starts to benefit soon after your last cigarette and it keeps recovering the longer you go without one. Every attempt teaches you something too, about your triggers and what does or doesn't work for you.

Doing it on willpower alone is tough, which is why support makes such a difference. Help Me Quit is the free NHS stop smoking service in Wales, with advice and support to help you through it. You can get in touch on 0800 085 2219 or at helpmequit.wales.

Your GP can also help you put a plan together. For West End Health Members, that means a proper conversation, with time to talk through what's helped before, what hasn't and what might work this time.
