Holistic Herbs Holistic, natural, awake healthcare therapy for all. Come & improve your life with massage & herbs Hi there, and welcome to my page.

My path into alternative healthcare started with me enrolling in a college course after school, with no idea of where it would take me. It opened up a whole new world of unknown complimentary treatments to me and I found my niche in Swedish Massage. After leaving college with a level3 IHBC Diploma, I then came across a leaflet, advertising a course in Herbal Medicine, which I immediately felt was my calling and 7 years later, I graduated with a level6 Diploma in Botano-therapy. This was over 20years ago and my love for natural, seasonal, spiritual and holistic healthcare is ongoing. So if you feel the need of a really good massage and or want advice on how to maintain better health through herbal medicine, lifestyle and diet, then I would be delighted to hear from you

Spooky walk on the eve of Samhain πŸŽƒ
A walk to Piecefield Park ( a derelict sad, once grand house) and beyond; into the woods high above the river Wye, to the Giants Cave.
Whilst Maggie explored the cave, further then I could reach, I sat and thought about the Ancestors of this place. It's the liminal time of the year when the veil is thin, a good time to think about departed loved ones and sending out Peace to All.
A perfect find of a Witches Egg ( the egg stage of a Stinkhorn mushroom, said to be edible at this stage but I haven't been brave enough to try it yet 😬)
And Maggie found a small ghost to make friends with πŸ‘»

Today I have been out collecting Turkey Tail / Trametes versicolor to dry for medicine.
It has immune boosting, anti-cancer effects and supports the gut biome, which supports health πŸ™

What a beautiful Sunny morning, perfect for recharging my crystals and stones after yesterday's Hot Stone Massage πŸ”₯🌞
Yesterday was the perfect weather too, for having a relaxing and rebalancing Hot Stone Massage pamper session: warm, cosy and relaxed while the wind blew & the rain lashed it down πŸ‚

I would like to thank BIRCH School of Herbal Medicine for inviting me to do a presentation at their Annual Herbal Medicine Conference yesterday πŸ™
My presentation was on Staying Healthy through the Seasons. This is a vast subject, especially as I brought in the links with the Elements, Humours and Astrology, as well as foraged foods and medicines to sample, so I did over run a little bit.
The BIRCH, was known as the IRCH when I graduated back in 2001, so I thought it very fitting to start off the Seasonal talk in Spring (new starts, new beginnings, fresh energy) with a toast of Birch sap πŸ’š
Other goodies on offer to sample were: Elderflower drink (Summer), Rosehip vinegar and oxymel (Autumn), Elderberry Winter Rob (Winter), along with Hawthorn ketchup, Chestnut crumble with hogweed seeds, nettle seeds and plantain seeds, Sorrel, Wild Garlic capers, Blackberries and Pheasant berries.
I also brought in some medicinal and edible Mushrooms: Penny buns, Bay Bolete, Honey fungus, Turkey tail and Hen of the Woods. As well as some Hops, Rose hips and chestnuts.
I really enjoyed the other two speakers presentations too. Barbara Wilkinson of The Herb Society, has really helped to make the organisation grow, connecting people who have a passion and love of our plants, herbs, medicines, the environment and all that the natural world has to offer. So do go and become a member and support the marvellous work that the The Herb Society does.
Julia Behrens also did a very informative presentation on Lyme disease; how it effects people's health, the symptoms, how Herbal medicine can help and the misunderstandings associated with the disease. Her book: Lost in Lyme is a must for Medical Herbalists and suffer's of this crippling disease, which sadly is becoming more prolific these days.

What a busy day: a forage and herbal medicine making workshop in the morning and massaging in the afternoon.
The sun came out as I turned up to Hill Farm Tintern for the 2nd time this week. Such a beautiful venue ith views of the river Wye surrounded by woods.
And the 2nd time this week so one has said "I wish I could live with you" after my forage workshop as they found the information so interesting πŸ˜…πŸ‘Œ
We started with a Birch sap ceremony and headed off to see what we could find: nettle seeds, plantain, sorrel, hazelnuts, sweet chestnuts, beech masts, hairy bittercress, navelwort and Hawthorn berries.
We made medicines with: Hawthorn berries, nettle seeds, rosehip and rosemary.
After lunch, in between the wood fired hottub and sauna, the guests enjoyed massage therapy in a room with a wonderful view of the surroundings ✨

I spent a glorious last day of September taking a group out for a forage. It was for a corporate team building day Hill Farm Tintern .
The weather and view of the river Wye from up high was spectacular and the woods and meadows gave us lots of wild foods to find and have a nibble of.
Amongst our finds were: navelwort (Umbilicus rupestris), sorrel ( Rumex acetosa) and wood sorrel (oxalis acetosella), herb Robert (Geranium robertianum), nettle seeds and Red cracking Bolete (Xerocomellus chrysenteron), porcelain mushroom (oudemansiella mucida), parasol mushroom (Macrolepiota procera) & a Blusher (Amanita rubescens) but great care needs to be taken when foraging mushrooms as a beginner.
For me, as a medical herbalist, foraging is so important for deeper plant connection which aids me in treating people. Forever grateful to my Plant allies πŸ’š
