Heart Cells Foundation Heart Cells Foundation was set up by Jenifer and Ian Rosenberg. In 2003 Ian was given just 2 months to live. Sadly, Ian died on 25th August 2006, aged 70.

UK charity celebrating 20 years of funding stem cell research, and in 2016, the launch of the 'Compassionate Treatment Unit for Heart Failure', at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. 🇬🇧❤️ It was then that he heard about cardiac stem cell therapy and travelled to Germany to receive treatment. On his return, Ian Rosenberg’s quality of life was improved and he was shocked to find no patient trials of the procedure in the UK. He then decided to set up the Heart Cells Foundation, alongside Jenifer, to raise money to fund ground-breaking cardiac stem cell trials at Barts and London NHS Trust. To this day Jenifer continues to campaign to make this treatment available to all on the NHS, for she is determined to make her late husband’s dream become a reality.

❤️ Would you know what to do if someone suffered a cardiac arrest?

Knowing how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) could help save a life and you don’t need to be a medical professional to use one.

⚡ Remember these simple steps:
❤️ Check if the person is responsive and breathing normally.
📞 Call 999.
📍 Ask someone to find the nearest AED.
🩹 Attach the pads and follow the voice instructions.
⚡ Stand clear while the AED analyses the heart rhythm and delivers a shock if advised.

Every second counts. Call 999, follow the emergency call handler’s instructions and start CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) if the person is unresponsive and not breathing normally. Use the AED as soon as it’s available.

❤️ Healthy heart, happy taste buds! 🥪

Eating well is an important part of looking after your heart, but that doesn't mean giving up the foods you love!

This delicious cottage cheese wrap from Miga Health is a great example of how nutritious ingredients can come together to create a satisfying, flavour-packed lunch.

With protein-rich cottage cheese, colourful roasted peppers, fresh rocket and creamy hummus, this recipe combines a variety of nutrients that can form part of a balanced diet.

At HeartCells Foundation, we're passionate about raising awareness of heart health and encouraging positive lifestyle choices that support long-term wellbeing.

🥪 Cottage Cheese Wrap Recipe (Makes 2 Servings)

You'll need:

1 cup no-added-salt cottage cheese
1 egg
¼ tsp oregano
¼ tsp rosemary
¼ cup hummus
4 thin slices part-skim mozzarella
150g roasted red peppers
1 cup rocket
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

👩‍🍳 How to make it:

1️⃣ Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2️⃣ Add the cottage cheese, egg, oregano and rosemary to a blender and blend until smooth.
3️⃣ Pour the mixture onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spreading evenly into a thin layer.
4️⃣ Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
5️⃣ Remove from the oven, keeping the wrap on the parchment paper.
6️⃣ Spread over the hummus, then add mozzarella, roasted red peppers and rocket tossed in balsamic vinegar.
7️⃣ Roll up using the parchment paper to help hold everything together, slice in half and enjoy!

❤️ 14th October | Stem Cell Awareness Day

Today, we're shining a light on an area of medical research that holds exciting possibilities for the future of heart health.

Stem cells are remarkable because they can renew themselves and develop into specialised cells. Researchers are exploring how these unique abilities could one day help repair damaged heart tissue and improve treatment options for people living with heart disease.

At HeartCells Foundation, our mission is centred on giving hope to people living with heart failure by supporting access to innovative treatments and championing the potential of regenerative medicine.

While there is still much to learn, continued research into stem cells offers hope for new possibilities in cardiac care. To help continue this important work, please considering donating here: https://www.heartcellsfoundation.com/donate/

We were interested to read in The Sun about new research exploring how AI could help detect heart disease in just seconds.

An AI tool being trialled in the NHS can analyse a routine ECG and identify warning signs of heart failure and heart valve disease, with the potential to help doctors identify patients who may need further investigation sooner.

Early detection is an important part of improving cardiovascular care, and advances in technology like this could offer new ways to support earlier diagnosis. To read the full article, click here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/health/40227156/doctors-diagnose-heart-disease-seconds-ai-ecg-nhs-trial/

The HeartCells Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of Dame Esther Rantzen, our first Ambassador and a longstanding, passionate supporter of our work.

Esther believed deeply in our mission to bring hope to people living with heart failure. Her support was also deeply personal, following the loss of her beloved husband, Desmond Wilcox, to heart disease.

Our thoughts are with Esther's family, friends and loved ones at this very sad time. Her legacy of kindness and service will live on in all those whose lives she touched. ❤️
