Mini Meditation – Resting in the Midst

In Resting in the Midst, we explore a refreshingly gentle approach to meditation.

Neuroscientist Joseph Jebelli highlights a powerful truth for modern life: doing nothing is essential for our brain health and mental well-being. When we pause the constant urge to produce and simply let ourselves be, our mind naturally resets, lowers stress, and restores focus.

Give yourself permission to pause. Step away from the noise and discover the deep calm of doing nothing.

Join us for Resting in the Midst—your brain will thank you.

**Join us for the exploration of mindfulness and poetry**

Mindfulness Meets Mystical Poetry Course – starts 4th November
With Fay Adams

If you are a fan of mindfulness and poetry, then this is for you!

One of the things mindfulness and awareness teaches us is that sometimes our experience can be difficult to put into words. Sometimes everyday language can feel insufficient, and this is where poetry comes to our aid!

Poetry allows us to explore the human experience through imagery, metaphor and expressive language. And vice versa, mindfulness allows us to more deeply experience poetry!

Mindfulness enables us to attune to a more subtle experience of poetry in the moment. When we listen to ourselves as we listen to a poem, we may encounter surprises, insights and movements within that we didn’t know were possible.

Take some time to allow poetry and mindfulness to open your eyes.

Gratitude means consciously choosing to pay attention to that which is good in life, those moments that we easily miss in our busy lives, lives that are full of time pressures, responsibilities and stress.

Choosing to pay attention to the good in our life, even the really small moments, helps shift our emotional balance. It helps us notice that there is good in our lives even when we feel overwhelmed.

Gratitude has been shown to reduce the symptoms of stress and anxiety and even help rewire the brain so we are more likely to become aware of those good moments in our life when they happen.

Happiness is not a fixed state, but the collection and noticing of the small moments that we are grateful for adds up. It helps create that emotional balance that is the bedrock of contentment and happiness. It is not a dismissal of that which is difficult or challenging, but it is the recognition that this is not all there is, and that, if we pay attention, there is much to be grateful for.

Start today. Stop and think about three things you are grateful for right now. Focus on how it feels to recall them. Do this regularly until it becomes a habit. You will be happier for it!

Mindful Monday

Before you know it, Monday is here again. The relative calm of the weekend is put aside as we look at our schedules, our demands and responsibilities. It can be very easy to ge t caught up in busyness and the stresses and strains that come with it.

However, it is important to remember that a new week doesn't have to mean rushing into everything at once. Sometimes, the best place to start is with a quiet moment and a few gentle breaths. Pause, breathe move - do something for yourself. Do it slowly, do it mindfully.

What's one small thing that helps you feel ready for the week ahead?

Walking isn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it can also be a simple, powerful way to ground yourself.

Mindful walking brings your practice off the cushion and into your everyday life. It requires no special equipment, takes no extra time out of your busy schedule, and can be done literally anywhere: on your morning commute, during a lunch break, strolling through a park, or even pacing through your hallway.

Why try mindful walking?

- Instant Grounding: Focusing on the physical sensation of your feet touching the earth helps pull your mind out of racing thoughts.

- Reduces Stress & Anxiety: Shifting awareness to your senses activates your body's relaxation response.

- Boosts Energy & Focus: A brief, intentional walk clears mental fatigue and improves concentration for the rest of the day.

-Helps Reconnect with Your Body: It brings awareness back to your breath, posture, and movement without any judgment.

Next time you step out or walk to another room, leave your phone in your pocket. Feel each step, notice your surroundings, and let your walk become your meditation.

IT’S THE END OF THE WEEK – THIS IS YOUR REMINDER TO TAKE TIME TO REST!!

So often our good intentions to be present and mindful are nudged aside by the busyness of our life.

Whether it is a busy day at work, a series of household chores, family commitments (or perhaps all three!), we can soon find ourselves looking helplessly at the clock and thinking “is that the time already?!?” whilst ploughing on with our day without ever breaking stride.

Our desire to meet our responsibilities is a laudable one, but if we don't include our own rest and recuperation in those responsibilities, then we will soon find that we are exhausted. This quote is a little reminder to stop and “unplug” from the doing mode of mind to just be.

If you are looking for a short mindful break in your day then check out our YouTube channel that has a wealth of mini-meditations to help you take some much needed rest.
