We bid farewell to Argyll today, hopefully not for long! It was such a fantastic week, here is the first of the videos we will share over the next few days. https://youtu.be/DcI3-HxhTN4
We used the same material in this piece as Mull Music Makers, the tunes 'The Isle of Mull' and 'Jig Runrig' original arrangement by Patsy Reid, this is the Lochside resource centre's interpretation. It is beautiful and filled with joy! Morag Currie Music

Additional Support Needs sessions next week on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th August! We are delighted to confirm that for part of each session next week we will have Emily and Morag from Hear My Music delivering a music workshop to our young people at Mayds!
This project is for children with Additional and Complex Support needs, it is running in conjunction with a fiddle residency on Mull where around 20 children will be working with a team of tutors to learn and create music. They hope to collaborate with them to create a joint video piece. All the music that Hear My Music creates is participant-led and they will make the workshops work for whoever is in and able to engage at the time.

Current young people attending- if parents/carers could confirm if their child will attend one or both sessions next week as spaces are extremely limited and we wouldn't like anyone to miss out if we have available spaces! Thank you 😀

If your child has Additional and Complex Support Needs and does not already attend MAYDS ASN Sessions but you feel it might be something they would benefit from then please feel free to message via Facebook or email [email protected] who will be happy to discuss with you your childs needs and the group setting to see what would work best for your child.

Good morning! We are back and busy preparing for the next year, as we do this, I'm putting a call out for any venue knowledge.
We are seeking a new venue to hold our after school and adult music classes, we need one smaller room to hire permanently for office space, storage and individual sessions and one bigger workshop room that we could either hire on an ad hoc basis or have exclusive use of. We have a preference for the south side of Glasgow but any area with good public transport and motorway links will be considered. The space needs to be fully accessible and we need to be able to make noise in both rooms, sometime simultaneously. Any suggestions please comment here or email me: [email protected]
Thank you!

We are having a 3 week shutdown here at HMM, returning on the 26th of July. GSM crew, thanks for all your responses, I'll be in touch at the end of July/start of August with a timetable.

As we bid a brief farewell I thought I'd share this clip of Leaving Lismore. Marcus worked so hard all through lockdown and playing this beautiful tune together was a year highlight for me!

Absolutely everyone HMM related has been amazing this year, participants, families, practitioners and our wee team. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for not letting the music stop at any moment.

Everyday heroes was written by Martin Gillespie and released as an NHS charity single by Skerryvore in 2020 who kindly agreed to let the Glad Spectrum Music group use this piece. We wrote lyrics based on what we like and also what each person in the group is good at. These were written and the piece was learnt during the height of the 2021 lockdown, we'd planned to record it separately and do a proper edit but the joy of being together meant that we did a quick video on the last week of term instead. I think the video sums up the resilience of all our participants over the past year and a half - well done all.

Glad Spectrum Music is finished for the year. It's been an absolute joy to have our last 5 weeks as a hybrid zoom/in person model. Here is a bit of Eric Clapton to start off the summer holiday, chosen by Andrew, learnt partly over zoom and then refined in person - just wonderful! Matthew Todd Joni Lindsay

Our Fife Youth Music Initiative project has been like no other this year but I think these rewritten lyrics to 'thank you for the music', performed today by class 4 at Kilmaron School say it all! Well done Clea Friend and Melissa Humphreys for amazing delivery over the internet and huge thanks to pupils and staff at Kilmaron for embracing it and keeping the music playing!

Thanks for the music
Melissa and Clea
Thanks for all the stories and dancing
When it comes to Thursday
You have Kilmaron singing
So thanks for all the joy you’re bringing

We hope that in the future
We can see you in person again
Cos teams is a pain
With all the glitches that technology brings
So we say
Thanks for the music
Melissa and Clea
For bringing it to me

Delighted to share some details of a very exciting project that we are working on in the memory of the wonderful Amy Moar, HMM's first trainee. Clea Friend and I have joined forces with Fiona from Freerange ArtFarm to write music to and film her story 'The Canny Capercaillie.' It is shaping up to be a wonderfully creative and sensory piece of work, capturing the very essence of Amy's musical personality.

🎺You are all invited! This Saturday at 6pm on our YouTube and Facebook channels! 🎺

We are so excited to present the first of our three Glad:Online// collaboration: 'Everyone Everyone' from Greer Pester and Kapil Seshasayee. Join us for a livestreamed premiere of their work, plus a Q&A with Greer and Kapil, and a special performance from Hear My Music facilitator Beth Black.

About the project:

'Everyone Everyone' is a collaborative online performance/learning project supported by Glad:Online//, exploring how musical facilitators have adapted their forms of engagement to online platforms during pandemic times, with a specific focus on facilitators who work with differently abled participants with complex needs.

Working with the Hear My Music/Glad Foundation group Glad Spectrum Music, Kapil and Greer are hoping to observe and document the subtle and interpersonal details of these new digital landscapes , exploring how facilitators and their participants have adapted to a new platform for connection. The difficulties and lessons learned during these transitional processes and how in many ways they have supported accessibility for this community.

They will pay homage to the facilitation techniques and online tools which continue to enable further engagement.

Taking inspiration from the processes of the group , Greer and Kapil will be developing new work with Hear My Music to make audio and visual translations that give a small insight to the digital space of community music and human connection.

Online music class with spaces - to be snapped up!

Hi everyone 😁
We hope you’ve had a lovely Easter break 🐣

We wanted to remind you all that our classes on Zoom start back tomorrow and we are looking forward to seeing everyone.

We also have spaces left for our new Totally Into Music class on Thursday afternoons from 1pm-2pm

If you would like to take part, please email [email protected] and either Mary (our Co-ordinator) or Sophie will get back to you.
🤗

Hi everyone 😁

Musically Active Dudes (MUSAC) are pleased to invite you to our new class
Totally Into Music 🎤🥁🎶 (TIM’s class)

The class will be on Zoom on Thursday afternoons from 1pm-2pm and we are delighted to have received funding from Creative Scotland so that this class can be provided free for participants.

Please like and share so we can spread the word 😉

The aim of the class is to learn more about drumming, percussion and singing. This will be the first time that Beats of Brazil (John and Marcia) and Hear My Music (Clea and Melissa) have worked together. So this is a very exciting opportunity for them and you.

The class will work towards creating original songs, and the accompanying percussion.
Hear My Music will lead the creation of the songs with a small group of participants. Those of you involved in our Singing and Vocalisation class will know how Clea and Melissa support the participants to use their imaginations to come up with some great, and very creative, songs.

Beats of Brazil will use all the experience they bring to the Drumming and Percussion class to work with participants to create percussion routines to go with the songs.

This class is a chance to learn more about singing, drumming and percussion and, of course, to have fun.
The project will run until the summer and we will work towards making recordings of the songs and hopefully a performance when restrictions allow.

If you are interested in taking part, please email [email protected] and either Mary (our Co-ordinator) or Sophie will get back to you.

If you have any questions about TIM's class, please let us know.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated to MUSAC. This is much appreciated and helps us to keep the classes free. Here is our link for donations https://www.justgiving.com/musicallyactivedudes

Thank you for your continued support of MUSAC and we look forward to seeing you at TIM's class. Our new venture for 2021!

Best wishes,

Musac commitee
