Reduce, reuse, recycle.
There’s a reason ‘reduce’ is first in that list, it’s the most effective way of diverting plastic from a landfill. We’re proud to announce another environmentally focused initiative, which is especially fitting given that it’s Plastic Free July.
Currently it’s standard practice to have a plastic cup sitting out ready for a patient in case they need to rinse during a treatment. This single use plastic cup is then sent to medical waste, if it was used or not, as it can’t be recycled.
We’re combatting this with a plan to provide cups only if requested (just ask a nurse or dentist). To further reduce our impact on the environment we’re also planning to phase out plastic cups entirely, with more environmentally friendly paper or bamboo ones in their place.

Bring any items along the next time you have an appointment and leave them in the box in reception, if you’re not sure if a certain item is recyclable then speak to our lovely reception team.

Help us help the planet, and raise some money for charity in the process.
We’re working with Recycle4Charity to help reduce the number of ink cartridges being sent to landfill, whilst raising money for an extremely worthwhile cause. Each ink cartridge that is recycled via one of the Recylce4Charity boxes in our dental practices will generate money for our charity partner, Alzheimer Scotland. A single ink cartridge can be worth up to £2 for the charity.
Through research and training, Alzheimer Scotland is working to ensure no one in Scotland faces dementia alone. We’ve been working closely with this incredible charity over the last 18 months, with almost all our dental practices having attended a Dementia Friends awareness session and we’re proud to continue to support this charity and all the work they do.
Look out for the Recycle4Charity box at your local Clyde Munro practice, and don’t forget to bring us your empty ink cartridges.

With the most recent Scottish Government announcement, we would like to reassure all of our patients that we remain open. Should you require essential dental care or have any dental concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
For those patients who have an existing dental appointment booked, this will go ahead as scheduled. Please rest assured that with the safety of our patients and staff our number one priority, we have carried out vigorous risk assessments and implemented COVID-safe operating procedures to ensure you are as safe as possible when visiting our practice.
1) We book patients appointments to ensure that the practice is not overcrowded. We will do this by leaving suitable gaps between appointments, making sure that patients can attend the practice while maintaining a safe distance from one another in accordance with government guidelines.
2) To further avoid overcrowding when you arrive at the practice, where possible to do so, we will ask that you wait in your car or in a safe place outside of the practice until called in. We will notify you via your phone when you should enter the practice.
3) We may suggest a virtual consultation with the dentist, using a video link, prior to you visiting the practice.
4) Where possible, we ask that you fill in all relevant forms online (via a unique link which we will email to you) before you enter the practice. This means that you will not have to touch a pen, paper, or any electronic device other than your own when you attend your appointment. This crucial step greatly reduces touch points at the practice.
5) We have created hygiene stations for all of our patients to use when entering and exiting the practice.
6) Between all appointments the dental team will thoroughly disinfect the dental surgery, reducing the risk of patient exposure to anything harmful while they are in the chair.
7) And finally, as you leave the practice, we will ask that you pay by card, preferably contactless.
We hope you find these steps reassuring and of comfort ahead of any future visits to our practice. Should you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Mouth cancer can appear in your mouth, lips, neck or head so be aware of what to look for and where. Your risk of mouth cancer can increased by several factors, including to***co (smoking and chewing), a poor diet (a lack of vitamins and minerals), excessive drinking and exposure to sunlight or sunbeds.
Checking for signs of mouth cancer takes just 45 seconds and an early diagnosis can save your life. Look for signs of:

Finding signs of cancer early can help save a life, patients with an early diagnosis have a survival rate of 90%.

We are pleased to announce that we will be moving into Phase 2 of the road map towards resuming general dental service. Phase 2 will commence on Monday 22nd June and will allow us to see patients in our dental practice for urgent dental care. We are going to be working closely with the Public Dental Service and will refer any patients requiring aerosol generating urgent dental care to them, as this in not permitted in practice during phase 2. We have additional safety measures in place in our practice to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible. Prior to attending your pre-booked dental appointment, a member of the team will be in touch to go through what you can expect on the day and give you an opportunity to ask any questions. We do not have a date as to when we will be able to progress into phase 3 (allowing us to provide patients with routine care and examinations) however, we will keep in touch and update you as guidance is issued to us. All appointments until 31st July are cancelled. We ask that you do not call us to reschedule your appointment or book a general dental appointment. We will be in touch with all our patients who were due an appointment during closure, when we have a clearer idea as to when we can carry out check-ups and treatments in the practice. We understand we have many patients waiting for care but we ask that you please bear with us. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation during these unprecedented times. If you do have a dental emergency, please give us a call during opening hours and a member of the team will be able to assist you. For dental emergencies out with our opening hours, you can still call NHS 24 on 111. Take care and stay safe.
