Bogus callers

Making sure callers are genuine inspectors

Occasionally, we receive reports of bogus callers, calling or visiting services and claiming to be inspectors from the Care Inspectorate.

You can be sure that our inspectors are who they say they are by carrying out some simple identity checks.

Every one of our inspectors carries an ID card with their photograph and job title on the front. You should always ask to see this and check the details. Our inspectors also carry official letters of authorisation.

If you are not sure if the person who has called or visited your service is genuine, you should call us on 0345 600 9527 to verify their identity.

If you believe you have been called or visited by a bogus inspector, you should contact the police straight away.

Welcome to Scottish Care

The National Care Standards were created to help people understand what to expect from services and services understand the standards they should deliver.

There have been many changes since the standards were created and this consultation seeks your views on updating the standards. You can find this on www.scottishcare.org

The Scottish Government believe that there are core elements of quality that should be common across public services. They ask if a shared set of standards for health and care should be developed so that people working in health & care services have a common understanding of what quality means and work to common core values.

Scottish Care will be responding to the consultation on behalf of its members. If you you would like to share your comments on the consultation you can email [email protected]

Scottish Care represents the largest group of Health and Social Care independent sector providers across Scotland with over 400 members
