๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒ‘ The Ivy New Moon โ€“ Saturday 10th October
Have you ever noticed how Ivy finds its way?
It twists and winds, clings and climbs, adapting to whatever it encounters while continuing to reach towards the light.
As we move further into autumn, Saturday's Ivy New Moon at 16:50 UK time offers a lovely symbolic moment to reflect on those same qualities within ourselves โ€” resilience, adaptability, persistence and connection.
Perhaps take a mindful walk amongst the trees this weekend and notice where Ivy appears.
๐ŸŒฟ What is it growing around?
๐ŸŒฟ What is supporting it?
๐ŸŒฟ Where has it changed direction?
๐ŸŒฟ And what might nature's example have to teach us about our own journey?
Sometimes the path forward isn't a straight one. ๐Ÿ‚

๐ŸŒฑ World Vegetarian Day โ€“ 1st October ๐ŸŒ

Today is World Vegetarian Day, and from a Harmony in Nature perspective it offers an opportunity to think about the connection between what we eat and the natural world that sustains us.

๐ŸŒฟ Our food choices are linked with land use, water, wildlife, biodiversity and climate. In general, eating a more plant-rich diet can reduce our environmental footprint โ€” although, as with most things in nature, where and how our food is produced matters too.

And October is a wonderful time to celebrate plants! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŽƒ

Here in the UK, the autumn harvest brings an abundance of seasonal fruit and vegetables, reminding us that our food begins not on a supermarket shelf, but in soil, sunlight, water and the intricate web of life.

You donโ€™t have to be vegetarian to mark World Vegetarian Day. Perhaps simply enjoy a meat-free meal, choose something seasonal or locally grown, or pause to appreciate the natural systems that have brought the food on your plate into being.

๐ŸŒ Connecting with nature can begin with something as everyday as what we choose to eat.

๐Ÿ‚ Our October Samhain Issue is here ๐ŸŒฟ
October carries us deeper into autumn, as the landscape shifts towards the darker half of the year and we approach Samhain โ€” summerโ€™s end and one of the great seasonal turning points of the Celtic year.
In our latest Harmony In Nature newsletter, we explore the changing rhythms of October and the invitations Nature offers us at this time: to slow down, notice what is changing, release what is no longer needed and reconnect with the quieter wisdom of the season.
We also share our latest news and opportunities to join us outdoors as autumn unfolds.

๐ŸŒ•๐Ÿ‡ Vine Harvest Full Moon โ€“ Saturday 26th September
Tonightโ€™s Full Moon peaks at 17.49 UK time, just a few days after the Autumn Equinox, making this our Harvest Moon โ€” the Full Moon closest to the Equinox.
There is something wonderfully appropriate about its arrival at this point on the seasonal wheel.
As autumn gathers around us, Vine reminds us that ripening cannot be hurried. Fruit develops through sunshine and rain, changing conditions, careful tending and, above all, time.
Our own lives have their seasons too.
This Harvest Moon offers a beautiful opportunity to pause and notice what has ripened during the year โ€” perhaps achievements and plans brought to fruition, but also quieter harvests: wisdom gained, relationships deepened, resilience developed and changes within ourselves that others may never see.
And, following so closely after the Equinox, there is an invitation to consider balance. What are we gathering and carrying forward into the quieter months? What has completed its cycle and can be released? And what is not yet ripe, but simply needs more time?
๐Ÿ‚ Harvest โ€ข Balance โ€ข Gratitude โ€ข Integration
You can explore the Vine Harvest & Equinox Full Moon, including a simple Harvest Moon ritual, in Joannaโ€™s latest Harmony Blog:
๐Ÿ‘‰ https://harmonyhealing.co.uk/blog

Joanna is also holding a live Vine Harvest & Equinox Full Moon Meditation this evening, 7.30โ€“9.30pm UK time, for anyone who feels drawn to explore these themes more deeply. Details in the Harmony Blog.

๐Ÿ‚ Autumn Equinox โ€“ A Moment of Balance โš–๏ธ

Tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd September, we reach the Autumn Equinox โ€“ the astronomical turning point into autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Around the Equinox, day and night come close to balance before the nights begin to lengthen and nature continues her gradual journey towards winter.

It is a beautiful time to pause and notice the changing season around us.

๐ŸŒฟ Leaves beginning to turn
๐Ÿ‚ Seeds and fruits ripening and falling
๐ŸŒพ The abundance of harvest giving way to rest
๐ŸŒ— Light and darkness moving through their natural cycle

Nature reminds us that balance isn't something static. It is an ongoing adjustment โ€“ a rhythm of growth and rest, activity and stillness, holding on and letting go.

If you can, take a little time tomorrow to step outside, breathe deeply and simply notice what is changing.

What signs of autumn can you see, hear, smell or feel where you are?

๐Ÿ‚ Wishing you a peaceful Autumn Equinox from Harmony in Nature.

Would you like to slow down, reconnect with nature and discover the restorative practice of Forest Bathing?

We have four opportunities to join us over the next couple of weeks, including our full Forest Bathing experience at the beautiful Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary and three special introductory sessions for Dorking Walking Week.

๐ŸŒณ Saturday 19th September | Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary, Shere
11.30amโ€“2.30pm | ยฃ39.77
Our full three-hour Forest Bathing experience, allowing plenty of time to slow down, awaken the senses and immerse yourself in the woodland atmosphere.

๐Ÿƒ Dorking Walking Week Forest Bathing Tasters

๐ŸŒฟ Sunday 20th September | 10.30amโ€“12 noon | ยฃ15
๐ŸŒฟ Thursday 24th September | 10.30amโ€“12 noon | ยฃ15
๐ŸŒฟ Thursday 24th September | 2โ€“4pm | ยฃ20

These shorter sessions are a lovely way to discover Forest Bathing if you haven't tried it before.

Despite the name, thereโ€™s no swimming involved! Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, Forest Bathing encourages us to slow our pace, engage our senses and experience the natural world in a deeper and more mindful way.

No previous experience is needed and you don't need to be especially fit โ€” this is about slowing down rather than covering distance.

๐ŸŒณ Join Joanna & Katie of Harmony in Nature, both qualified Forest Bathing guides, and give yourself some precious time to pause, breathe and reconnect.

๐ŸŒ‘๐ŸŒฟ Today is the Vine New Moon

As we move gently towards autumn, today's Vine New Moon offers a lovely opportunity to reconnect with the rhythms of nature.

๐Ÿ‡ The Vine reminds us that growth doesn't always follow a straight path. Its tendrils reach out for support, changing direction when necessary whilst continuing to grow.

Perhaps take a little time outdoors today and reflect:

๐ŸŒฑ What have you cultivated so far this year?
๐ŸŒฟ What is nourishing you?
๐Ÿ‚ Is anything asking you to change direction?
๐ŸŒ™ What would you like to nurture during the coming lunar cycle?

The New Moon and early waxing phase are also traditionally associated with sowing and new growth, making this an interesting time to think about the seeds we plant โ€“ both in the earth and in our lives.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ As today also marks 25 years since the events of 11th September 2001, we remember all those whose lives were lost or forever changed, holding an intention for peace, compassion and understanding.
