Lately my thoughts have been running wild. 🤪 Have yours?
You know when your brain is in sixth gear, doing 150mph, and everything feels a little too much?
I have tools to support myself, but this time, I allowed myself to listen.
And here's a little of what came up. There’s more but I’m conscious of the size of the post 😂
Thought: I should be further ahead in life. Feelings: Shame. Resentment.
Thought: At 46, I should have more financial freedom. Feelings: Regret. Bitterness.
Thought: I should be living in service of my gifts. Feelings: Disappointment. Comparison.
Thought: I'm exhausted from working hard, my husband and daughter getting my leftovers and no energy to do the things I love. Feelings: Frustration. Hopelessness.
Add the rising cost of everything and the weight of what's happening in the world! It's been a week!
Here’s what I did 👇🏻
I gave myself some space to feel it. All of it.
I didn't have a loving relationship with my mum, and I really wanted the comfort of being held and told everything would be alright by a motherly type of love. ❤️🩹
I journalled, swore, cried and wrote everything onto paper. It was messy.
I sat with the pain & really felt it, rather than push it away.
And eventually, something loosened.
The thoughts felt smaller, my body began to soften, and I felt a little lighter.
I moved my body – I put on some music & danced, I went for a run. I let some of that tension move through me.
It reminded me that sometimes, the thoughts that are the loudest are the ones I’ve been trying hardest not to hear.
Not because every thought is true, of course not. Something within me needed my attention.
Sometimes it’s not all about the fixing. I just needed to listen, feel, and offer myself some space & compassion to work through whatever was rising.
Acceptance that I can’t control what’s outside of me, but that I can control what’s inside if I just take a minute to listen.
So that's what I'm doing. Loving myself a little more, & accepting all the lovely cuddles from my daughter. ❤️
And if you've been carrying a lot lately, this is part of why I hold my meditation circles.
A space to step away from the noise, slow down and listen to yourself in a safe and held space.
My next in-person circle is coming up on the 27th October. 🤍
