What does PREVOLUTION mean? 🦷✨

Our name reflects what we believe the future of oral health should be:

PREVENTION + EVOLUTION = PREVOLUTION

🛡️ PREVENTION
Because looking after your oral health shouldn’t only begin when something hurts or a problem has already developed.

✨ EVOLUTION
Because oral healthcare is changing. New thinking, greater awareness and a more preventative approach can help us take better care of our mouths throughout our lives.

Together, they make PREVOLUTION — our belief in helping to evolve the conversation around oral health from simply treating problems to helping prevent them.

Because a healthier smile isn’t just about how it looks.
It’s about confidence, comfort and long-term health.

Prevention. Evolved.

There have been significant changes in the oral health of older adults.

At the BDIA Dental Showcase 2026, Professor Gerry McKenna explains why.

People are retaining their natural teeth for much longer.

That means we are seeing more chronic dental disease in later life, including caries, periodontal disease and tooth wear.

And when people become dependent on others for care, or move into a nursing home, that is where we see a significant drop-off in oral health.

How do we better support oral health as people age and become more dependent on care?

“It was very much a win-win situation.”

Adam has a long history of dental problems, including cavities, multiple fillings and five dental implants.

More recently, concerns from his dental team about his gum health meant he was seeing his hygienist every three months. With healthy gums particularly important to maintaining his implants, Adam wanted to take a more proactive approach.

Following treatment with Prevora, Adam saw an improvement in his gum health, and importantly, both his dentist and hygienist noticed an improvement too. His hygienist appointments have since moved from every three months to every six months.

In this clip, Adam explains why he has recommended Prevora to friends, family and others.

“There was no downside for me… it was very much a win-win situation.”

The dental team already has the skills to deliver effective prevention.

At The Dentistry Show London, Professor Tim Newton looks at what is needed to strengthen prevention in everyday practice.

Clinically, dental teams are already highly skilled. The opportunity is to build on that with effective preventive treatments.

Changing patient behaviour is more complex.

At King’s College London, Tim and his colleagues developed the GPS model - Goal Setting, Planning and Self-Monitoring - to give healthcare professionals a simple, practical way to support behaviour change.

Designed to be delivered quickly in practice, it helps patients take greater control of their own health.

What tools or approaches have worked best for you?

Prevention is a full team effort.

At The Dentistry Show London, Professor Iain Chapple discusses the role dental nurses and hygiene teams are playing in a national study.

This is skills mix in action.
It works. Patients trust it. Teams respond to it.

The challenge is not capability.
It is the system around it.

If prevention is not properly supported and funded, it is difficult to scale.

How do we move from aspiration to reality?

“Transformative.”

Paul, 62, describes his experience with Prevora.

After being diagnosed with neck cancer, Paul underwent intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Persistent bleeding gums became an issue. From visible blood on his teeth when speaking to people, to blood on his pillow at night.

Following treatment with Prevora, Paul describes the change he experienced:

“No bleeding whatsoever. It’s genuinely transformative.”

For Paul, being free from those concerns had a real impact on his confidence and day-to-day life.

Are we getting the foundations right?

At The Dentistry Show London, Professor Tim Newton reflects on why good aesthetic outcomes need the right clinical foundations.

Patients don't just want improved clinical measures.

They want to look happy.
Feel confident in photographs.
Smile at the moments that matter.

Getting the periodontal foundations right is an important part of that journey.

Are we building from the right place?

We overestimate how effective we are as dental professionals.

At The Dentistry Show London, Professor Iain Chapple challenges a key assumption in dentistry.

Periodontitis is becoming more prevalent.
Caries is not going down. It is redistributing into underserved communities.

And while we measure clinical success, patients ultimately care about something much more fundamental:

Pain. Function. Confidence.

Are we focusing on the outcomes that matter most to patients?

Prevention is not just about behaviour change.

There is real innovation happening. New tools. New approaches.

Prevora is an exciting new preventive measure, designed with high-risk patients in mind, including older people, patients with chronic diseases, people with dental anxiety and patients with dry mouth.

It can be delivered by dental nurses as well as dentists and hygienists, with the potential to greatly expand access to oral care in dental practices and across a range of additional settings, including care homes, sheltered accommodation and other residential environments.

The opportunity is clear.
