World Occupational Therapy Day falls on 27th October this year, and the theme chosen by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists is one that resonates deeply with how we work at Healing Touch Rehab: participation Matters 💙
It is a simple phrase that captures something important: OT is fundamentally about enabling people to engage in the everyday activities, roles and routines that give life meaning. Whether that is dressing independently, going to school, returning to work or taking part in leisure. The physical, cognitive, emotional, environmental and social factors that get in the way of that participation are all within the scope of what occupational therapists address.
For the children, young people and adults we work with, participation is the goal that underpins everything else we do. Progress in clinic only truly matters when it translates into fuller, more confident engagement with everyday life.
