I was about to pop outside when the light changed to amber.
My phone wasnât already in my hand and an alert hadnât sounded yet. The colour made me stop, open CareLink and give Rebekah a heads-up.
That was the moment Glowcose proved useful for us.
It doesnât show a glucose number or trend arrow, and it isnât meant to replace Rebekahâs pump, CGM or phone alerts. It simply turns her CGM data into colours that I can see from across the roomâand that has reduced how often I open CareLink just to check.
Setup only took a few minutes, although it wasnât completely snag-free. The instructions disappeared midway through, the CAPTCHAs took several attempts and using the same CareLink login initially caused problems with xDrip. Creating a separate Care Partner account fixed that, and both have stayed connected since.
After testing it over several days and nights, moving it between rooms and deliberately interrupting the data, my verdict at home is positive. It reconnects automatically, turns white when thereâs no current data, has five brightness levels and can flash every 30 seconds during a low until glucose returns to range.
Lewcose asked for a âwarts and allâ reviewânot a positive one. The full review is now available in the Mum of a Warrior Recommends section of my website.
The classroom trial is still to come, subject to school permission.
Would being able to see CGM ranges across the room make a difference in your home or school?
