πŸ’™ Sometimes starting again is part of the journey.

This patient shared an honest reflection on returning to Counterweight for a second time. After losing 30 kg in 20 weeks during their first programme and seeing their diabetes go into remission, personal setbacks led to weight regain.

This time, they're approaching things differently. They recognised that understanding the reasons behind emotional eating is an important part of their journey and are combining the programme with additional support from their NHS weight management team.

After their first week, they've already lost 4 kg, are feeling more energetic, and have started introducing more movement through walks and light cardio at the gym. πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

We love their reminder that the first couple of weeks can feel tough, but things can get easier as you settle into your routine. And perhaps most importantly, their experience shows that a setback doesn't mean you've failed, it can be an opportunity to learn more about what you need to support your long-term health.

Every journey is different, and finding the right combination of practical tools, professional support and behaviour change strategies can help you move forward. 🌱

πŸ’¬ Have you ever had to start again after a setback? What did you learn from the experience?

πŸ’™ "If you do have a fail day, just get straight back into it."πŸ’™

We’re delighted to share Justin’s incredible Counterweight journey, from starting the programme at around 95 kg to reaching 76.8 kg, a loss of more than 18 kg πŸŽ‰

Justin also shared how his health changed along the way. He started the programme with prediabetes and evidence of early background retinopathy. By July 2026, he reports that he was no longer prediabetic and that the background retinopathy had resolved.

But Justin’s story isn't just about the numbers. He speaks honestly about the challenges along the way, including a handful of days when things didn't go to plan. His advice? Don't let one difficult day turn into giving up, get straight back into your routine.

He also highlights the support he received from his Counterweight health coach, Hannah, and the wider team, including prompt follow-up when his readings showed a low blood glucose level. πŸ’™

And, of course, there was plenty of experimentation with the meal replacements, from finding his favourite shake combinations to discovering that a little extra spice could transform a soup! πŸ₯£πŸ₯€

A huge congratulations to Justin on everything he has achieved, and thank you for sharing your experience with our community πŸ‘

πŸ’¬ What advice from Justin's journey resonates with you most?

πŸ’• Happy Grandparents Day! πŸ’•

Today, we're celebrating the grandparents and older family members who inspire us, support us, and often pass on traditions that bring us together.

It's also a wonderful opportunity to make memories through healthier habits. Whether it's sharing a meal, taking a walk in the park, playing with the grandchildren, or trying a new recipe together, spending time being active and connected can benefit everyone's wellbeing.

Health is about so much more than the number on the scales; it's about enjoying life's moments with the people who matter most.

How are you celebrating Grandparents Day today? We'd love to hear in the comments! πŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄β€οΈ

πŸ«€ Cholesterol Matters. Every Swap Counts.

October is National Cholesterol Month, a great opportunity to learn more about your cholesterol and the small changes that can support heart health.

Cholesterol is a type of fat that your body needs, but having too much LDL (β€œbad”) cholesterol in your blood can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

The good news? Small swaps can add up. Try:

πŸ₯‘ Choose unsaturated fats, such as olive oil, nuts, seeds and avocado, instead of foods high in saturated fat
🐟 Include oily fish where appropriate
🌾 Choose wholegrain breads, cereals, rice and pasta
πŸ₯¦ Add plenty of vegetables, fruit, beans and pulses to your meals
🚢 Keep moving: regular physical activity can support your overall heart health

You don't need to change everything at once. Every swap counts, and small changes that you can maintain over time can make a difference.

πŸ’¬ What’s one simple swap you could make this week to support your heart health?

❀️ Happy World Heart Day! ❀️

Today is a reminder that looking after your heart is an important part of looking after your overall health.

The good news? Many of the everyday habits that support a healthy weight can also support your heart. πŸ’™

πŸ₯— Eat for your heart – enjoy plenty of vegetables, fruit, wholegrains, beans and other fibre-rich foods, while choosing healthier unsaturated fats where possible.

🚢 Keep moving – regular physical activity can support heart health, fitness and wellbeing. Remember, every bit of movement counts!

πŸ§‚ Watch your salt intake – try herbs, spices, garlic, lemon or chilli to add flavour without relying on salt.

😴 Look after your whole self – getting enough sleep, managing stress and avoiding smoking can all contribute to cardiovascular health.

βš–οΈ Work towards a healthier weight – if weight loss is appropriate for you, even modest weight loss can bring health benefits.

You don't need to change everything at once. Small, sustainable changes can add up to a healthier heart over time. 🌱

πŸ’¬ What's one heart-healthy habit you could focus on this week?

πŸ’œ What a difference a year can make πŸ’œ

We couldn't be more proud to share this incredible one-year milestone from a Counterweight patient.

After losing 35 kg, they describe being the healthiest and fittest they've been in their adult life, and their progress goes far beyond the number on the scales. They've gone from struggling with energy for activities, to running 5K in just over 33 minutes, while seeing significant improvements in their health markers. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰

Their story is also a powerful reminder that meaningful change doesn't happen overnight. It comes from trusting the process, working with your coach, and building healthier habits that you can maintain over time.

We would also like to give a special shout-out to BjΓΆrn, whose coaching and support have been an important part of this journey. πŸ’™

To anyone at the beginning of their Counterweight journey, remember: you don't have to know exactly where you'll end up. Focus on the next step, work with your coach, and discover what you're capable of. 🌱

Congratulations on an incredible year, and thank you for sharing your story with our community! πŸ₯³πŸ’œ

πŸ‚ Hello, Autumn! πŸ‚

As the Autumn Equinox marks the start of autumn in the UK, it's a great time to embrace the change in season and think about how your routines can change with it.

Cooler days and darker evenings can make it tempting to stay indoors, but they can also be a chance to create new healthier routines that work for the season.

πŸ₯• Enjoy seasonal foods – make the most of nutritious autumn produce in soups, stews, salads and other warming meals.
🚢 Keep moving – wrap up warm and enjoy a brisk autumn walk, or try an indoor activity when the weather isn't on your side.
πŸ›‹οΈ Create cosy routines – use the evenings to plan meals, prepare for the week ahead, or make time to relax and recharge.
🎯 Review your goals – as your routine changes, check whether your health goals still work for you and make adjustments where needed.

Remember, healthier habits don't have to stay the same all year round. Adapting your routine to fit your life and your environment is part of making healthier changes sustainable. πŸ’™

πŸ‚ What healthier habit will you bring with you into autumn?

🀍 Wishing everyone observing Yom Kippur a peaceful and meaningful day.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day in Judaism. It is traditionally a time for fasting, prayer, reflection, repentance, and seeking forgiveness.

For those observing the fast, remember that fasting practices can vary and may not be suitable for everyone. If you are fasting, prioritise your wellbeing and follow any guidance from your healthcare professional where appropriate.

Yom Kippur is also a time to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. We wish you and your loved ones a meaningful day of reflection, peace, and renewal. πŸ•ŠοΈ

πŸ’ͺ Happy National Fitness Day! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Today is all about celebrating the many ways we can move our bodies and make physical activity part of our everyday lives.

Being active doesn't have to mean spending hours in the gym. A walk with a friend, a cycle, a swim, dancing, gardening, playing with the kids, or a short strength session at home can all help you become more active. Every move counts!

The key is finding activities you enjoy and building them into your routine in a way that works for you. Start small, build gradually, and remember that something is always better than nothing. 🌱

πŸ’¬ How are you getting active today? Tell us your favourite way to move in the comments and inspire someone else to get moving!

πŸ’™ National Inclusion Week πŸ’™

This National Inclusion Week, we are celebrating the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, supported and able to take part.

Health and wellbeing aren't one-size-fits-all. People have different needs, experiences, abilities, cultures and circumstances, and making healthier choices easier and more accessible means recognising and supporting those differences.

Whether it's making physical activity more accessible, providing flexible options, creating inclusive communities, or simply listening without judgement, small changes can help everyone feel that they belong.

At Counterweight, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to access support that works for them and to feel respected throughout their health journey. 🌱

πŸ’¬ What does inclusion mean to you? Share your thoughts in the comments and help us celebrate what makes our communities stronger. 🀝
