I think about this more than I ever expected to.
Who mothers the mother?
I always imagined motherhood would come with a village. My mum being part of it. Someone checking in on me, bringing food, noticing when I’m exhausted, reminding me I’m doing okay.
But the village I thought I’d have doesn’t exist.
And becoming a mum without my own mum has made that absence feel even bigger.
So I’ve had to learn to show up for myself. To notice when I need a break, ask for help, and remind myself that I’m doing okay.
I just wish sometimes I didn’t have to be my own village.
