“Being featured in an optometry magazine is a lovely milestone for me," said Noor.

We caught up with optometrist Noor Sher after our latest edition landed to hear what being featured on the cover meant to her.

She also told us that: “Balancing my work as a hospital optometrist, running my own independent opticians and taking on a portfolio of different roles has been a journey I’m proud of. It’s nice to have that journey recognised and to reflect on the opportunities, experiences and people that have shaped my career so far.”

In our latest edition, Noor discusses her varied roles, including working as an IP optometrist at Whipps Cross Hospital and running her practice Iris Eye Care, and explains how developing a portfolio career has enhanced her professional satisfaction.

Thank you to Noor for sharing her experience and insights.

We caught up with Zahir-Ally Kanji, optometrist and owner of James Bryan Opticians and Aves Optometrists, both Hakim Group independent practices, on balancing business ownership and family life.

He shared with us how "on a clinical morning, I follow Nigel Risner’s advice: 'When you’re in the room, be in the room.' That means giving my full attention to the person in front of me – whether that is a patient or a member of the team who needs support."

We spoke to her about the misconceptions and overwhelming benefits that come with providing domiciliary eye care.

"I’d urge anyone to have regular eye tests as they can reveal so much about your general health. Without one, I could have been left with permanent damage to my vision," says patient Hannah.

In the run-up to Christmas, Hannah Mockler noticed a sudden change in her vision. Concerned, she booked an appointment Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care in Alfreton.

We spoke to Hannah and optometrist, Sameer Mistry, about the appointment, the signs and symptoms, and how this led to a diagnosis of an autoimmune disease.
