Lovely to join the EMPIS Sensory Integration Conference in Poland today, presenting online on “From Sensory Signals to Participation: Responsible Clinical Reasoning Through the PEAR TREE™ Lens”.

My presentation explored how we move beyond simply observing sensory responses to understanding the whole person, including the relationships between sensory experiences, movement, regulation, attention and meaningful participation.

Drawing on Ayres’ original thinking, contemporary neuroscience and our PEAR TREE™ Lens, we considered why curiosity, careful clinical reasoning and working collaboratively with children and families matter so much.

Our message was simple: behaviour is something to understand, not simply something to change.

Last Friday, we were delighted that Sensory Ladders® received the Innovation in Occupational Therapy Award at the South West Care Awards 2026.

Since then, and in response to all the requests we've received, we've been preparing more ways for people to make Sensory Ladders® their own.
