🩷 When we care for everyone else, who cares for us?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to talk about prevention, early detection, treatment and hope.
Today, though, I’d also like to talk about something we don’t always see from the outside.
The fears we keep to ourselves. The pain we try to hide. The worry we carry when someone we love is suffering.
How often are we ready to do everything we can to protect or save someone close to us? How often do we take on their pain, their worries and their struggles?
And how often, while trying to be there for everyone else, do we forget that we need support too?
🌿 Our bodies and emotions are connected.
When we experience prolonged stress, fear or anxiety, our bodies respond. Our breathing, sleep and muscle tension can change, as can the way we feel and recover our strength.
This does not mean that emotional conflicts cause cancer. It means that our emotional wellbeing deserves care and attention, just like every other aspect of our health.
Sometimes we try so hard to be strong for so long that we forget we’re allowed to be vulnerable.
To say, “I’m afraid.”
To admit, “I’m tired.”
To allow ourselves to say, “I need help.”
Perhaps real strength isn’t about always carrying on. Perhaps it’s also the ability to recognise when we need to pause, care for ourselves and let others care for us.
🩷 On 23 October, I’m dedicating my distance Reiki practice to everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.
To the women going through this difficult experience today.
To those who have already travelled this challenging road.
To the loved ones who have stood beside them—sometimes unsure how to help, but still there, offering love, hope and their presence.
And to everyone who carries the memory of someone they have lost in their heart.
Throughout the day, the Reiki energy channel will be open to anyone who would like to take part in this practice for calm, support and wellbeing.
✨ How to take part
Leave a comment below the post:
“Thank you, I receive the Reiki energy.”
At a time that suits you during the day, set aside around 30 minutes. Find a quiet place, make yourself comfortable and bring your attention to yourself, your breathing and a sense of inner calm.
Participation is free, and no previous experience with Reiki is needed.
Reiki is a complementary practice for relaxation and emotional support. It does not replace medical examinations or treatment.
🩷 May this day be not only a symbol of compassion, but also a reminder:
We cannot protect the people we love from every hardship. We cannot control everything life brings.
But we can be there for them.
We can offer love, understanding and support.
And we can learn to offer that same love, understanding and support to ourselves.
Because caring for ourselves does not mean we love others any less. 🩷
With love,
Milena Atanasova
