Who's behind WAVE?

For Rohin, women's hair loss isn't an abstract problem. He watched his wife struggle with it for years, trying different products and approaches without finding the answer she needed.

Years later, his mum experienced significant thinning after menopause too. This time, he approached it differently.

Wave started with the women closest to him. And that's still at the heart of why we're building it.

Hair shedding can feel like it started out of nowhere.
But sometimes, the trigger happened months before you ever noticed the change.

An illness. A period of significant stress. Weight loss. Surgery. A hormonal change. A medication change.

That’s why understanding when your shedding started is only part of the picture. Looking back at what was happening in the months before can give important context.

Started shedding recently?
Think back.
What was happening in your life a few months before you noticed it?

You’ve had the blood tests. You’ve been told your ferritin is “fine”. So why is your hair still shedding?

Dr. Rohin explains why that might not be the end of the conversation. Watch to the end for what’s worth considering before reaching for another supplement.

If your results haven’t answered your concerns, it’s okay to ask: “What else could be contributing?”

It’s easy to look at a hair-loss product and think, “Maybe I just need one more thing.”

A shampoo here. A supplement there. Then a serum, an oil, a device, and suddenly you have five different purchases without one clear plan.

The better place to start is understanding what might actually be causing the change. Then ask whether each treatment is relevant, what evidence supports it, how you’ll know if it’s helping, and when progress should be reviewed.

It’s not about spending the least or buying the most. It’s about making sure the money you do spend is going toward something that has a reason to be there & is clinically proven.

“Rosemary oil works just as well as minoxidil.” You’ve probably seen the claim. Here’s what the research actually found.

A 2015 randomised trial compared rosemary oil with 2% minoxidil in 100 men with androgenetic alopecia, the condition commonly called pattern hair loss. There were 50 participants in each group, followed for six months.

At three months, neither group showed a statistically significant increase in hair count. At six months, both did. The researchers found no statistically significant difference between the groups.

But finding no statistically significant difference doesn’t automatically prove two treatments are equally effective.

There are also limits to what this trial can tell us:

• No women took part.
• It tested 2% minoxidil, not 5%.
• There was no placebo group.
• It didn’t establish what happens beyond six months.

So there is evidence worth investigating. But this trial does not establish that rosemary oil can replace minoxidil for women.

When you think about hair loss, what do you picture?
For many of us, it's a receding hairline.

But female hair loss doesn't always look like that.
The important thing is to notice what has changed from your own baseline, rather than comparing yourself to the hair-loss pictures you see online.

Not sure what you're seeing? Save this and keep an eye on changes over time.

The truth is, the shower can make hair shedding look worse than it is.

Going longer between washes simply means more shed hairs can collect and come out at once. It doesn’t mean washing caused them to fall out.

Know someone who’s scared to wash their hair because of what they see in the shower? Share this with her. She might need to hear it.

If you're keeping an eye on changes in your hair, your photos don't need to be perfect. They just need to be consistent.

- Same parting
- Same angle
- Same lighting
- Same distance
- Similar hair condition

That way, when you compare photos later, you're actually comparing like with like.

Save this so you have the checklist next time.💾

Send it to a friend who's constantly checking their parting.

Most women are told hair loss is just part of ageing. It’s not — it’s biology. Dropping estrogen makes your scalp more sensitive to DHT, and that needs a real clinical answer. Not pumpkin seed oil. Personalised combination therapy. The same approach used in private dermatology clinics, finally accessible.

When oestrogen drops during menopause, it makes your hair more sensitive to DHT, a hormone that shrinks hair follicles. If you’ve noticed sudden or rapid hair thinning, it’s not just ‘aging’ - it could be hormonal. The good news? It’s treatable. Wave provides personalised treatment to address hormonal hair loss. Understanding the root cause is the first step to finding a confident solution. Discover your best path forward with Wave
