You can trust God completely whilst also trusting your doctor enough to seek help at the right time.
If you’re trying to conceive, praying and believing for your baby does not mean you have to delay medical assessment.
Seeking medical help does not mean you have less faith.
Here’s when you should consider speaking to your GP:
Under 36?
If you’ve been having regular unprotected vaginal s*x for 1 year without conceiving, it’s time to see your doctor.
36 or over?
You don’t need to wait 12 months
NICE recommends that you can be referred for specialist fertility assessment at presentation
PLEASE don’t wait if you already have a condition that could affect fertility.
That includes things like:
• known or suspected endometriosis
• previous pelvic surgery
• problems with your periods/ovulation /PMOS
• previous pelvic infection
• male factor infertility
• or another known risk factor for infertility.
Your GP may potentially refer you earlier
Urgently present to your GP about a referral if you’re about to have treatment that could potentially affect your fertility
• Surgeries involving reproductive organs
• Pelvic radiotherapy
• Chemotherapy
• Certain cancer treatments
• Treatment that may damage ovarian or testicular function
You can pray AND investigate.
You can have faith AND have blood tests.
You can trust God AND see a fertility specialist.
Medicine can be one of the ways your prayers are answered.
Faith and medicine can coexist.
Save this if you’re currently trying to conceive and send it to someone who needs to hear it.
