Sometimes, tenderness takes a shape we weren’t taught to recognise.
A strange little creature, like a part of ourselves
Who need to find a place to rest,
to feel secure enough to loosen our grip.
This part can be struggle to explain. They can be unfamiliar, vulnerable, a little unsettling
and still invite affection.
There is something deeply comforting in being able to look at something strange and feel tenderness for it. I believe we can learn to turn some of that tenderness towards ourselves.
