What is Endometriosis? (Pronounced: en-doh-mee-tree-oh-sis)
🎗️Every month, the lining inside a woman’s uterus (womb) builds up and then breaks down during her period.
For someone with endometriosis, tissue very similar to this lining grows in the wrong places—like on their ovaries, fallopian tubes, or bowel.
Think of it like wild seeds growing outside the garden bed where they belong.
Why does it cause so much pain?
During a period, this misplaced tissue reacts exactly like the tissue inside the womb.
It swells up and bleeds.
But because it is trapped outside the womb, the blood has nowhere to go.
This causes:
Severe pelvic pain (much worse than normal period cramps)Extreme fatigue and feeling constantly drainedPainful s*x, or pain when using the bathroom
Heavy periods and fertility strugglesIt is NOT "just a bad period."It is a real, chronic medical condition that affects 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth.
On average, it takes 7 to 8 years just to get a proper diagnosis. If you or someone you love is struggling with debilitating period pain, please don't suffer in silence.
