Ever remembered your most important question just after leaving an appointment?

Write down anything you want to discuss before you go. You might want advice about footwear, a recurring problem or how to look after your feet between visits.

If your discomfort seems linked to a particular pair of shoes, ask the clinic whether bringing them would be helpful.

Foot health professionals, what do you wish patients brought or mentioned more often?

Let’s help our communities get more from their appointments.

If someone close to you finds it difficult to see or reach their feet, a little practical support can help.

Ask what they’d find useful. That could mean helping them contact their clinic, keeping appointment details handy or supporting the daily checks their healthcare team has recommended.

For people living with diabetes, changes in their feet need prompt professional advice.

Care works best when the person stays involved and their preferences are respected.

Share this with someone supporting a parent, partner or friend.

One of the best parts of a conference is catching up with people who understand your working day.

The conversations between sessions can be a chance to share experiences, meet a new colleague or hear how another practice approaches a familiar challenge.

That’s something we’re looking forward to at Podiatry 2026 on 26–27 November at ICC Birmingham.

Come and say hello at the Bailey Instruments stand. We’d love to hear about your practice, the community you care for and how we can support your work.

Whether you’ve known Bailey for years or you’re meeting us for the first time, you’ll receive a warm welcome.

Who else is attending this year?

Join us this November for an unmissable learning experience as we bring two exceptional events together at the ICC Birmingham.

Trying on new autumn shoes? Give yourself time to walk around in them.

Wear the sort of socks you’ll use with them, check there’s room for your toes and notice whether your heel slips or anything presses against your foot.

A lovely pair of boots should still be comfortable when you leave the shop.

If finding suitable footwear is difficult, ask a podiatrist for advice rather than repeatedly buying pairs that don’t work for you.

What’s your biggest challenge when shopping for shoes?

“I thought it was too small a thing to ask about.”

It’s a sentence many foot health professionals will recognise. People can put up with discomfort for weeks because they’re unsure whether it deserves an appointment.

If something about your feet is worrying you, start the conversation. You don’t need to arrive knowing what’s wrong or which treatment you need.

For practitioners, what’s the question you wish more people would ask?

In the Bailey community we make those conversations feel a little easier.

Every clinic develops its own useful ways of working.

It might be a clearer explanation for patients, a thoughtful appointment reminder or a way of helping someone feel less anxious when they arrive.

We’d love Bailey’s community to be somewhere foot health professionals can share those everyday ideas and learn from one another.

What’s one small change you’ve made that has improved the experience in your clinic?

Please keep examples anonymous so patients’ privacy is protected.

When did you last look inside your everyday shoes?

Worn linings, rough seams and insoles that have folded or moved are easy to overlook, particularly in a favourite pair.

Give your footwear a quick check before putting it on. Look at the soles as well as the inside, and follow professional advice about prescribed footwear or insoles.

For people living with diabetes, checking inside shoes is an especially useful daily habit.

Save this for your next footwear clear-out.
