💛 BELLA TAKES ON THE BHS CHARITY RACE 💛🏇
We are SO proud to share that our very own coach Bella has taken on the challenge of a lifetime: going from rider to jockey and racing a mile on the flat in the BHS Charity Race at Newbury Racecourse! 🏁
Bella is raising money for The British Horse Society, our governing body and the UK's largest equestrian charity, working to improve education, welfare, access and safety for horses and everyone who cares for them.
In particular, Bella is raising money for the BHS Changing Lives Through Horses programme, which supports learners from all backgrounds who, for whatever reason, can't access mainstream education. We deliver it here at Lancing Equestrian, and Bella has seen first-hand what it can do for young people.
It's not just learning. It's a first friend in years. It's the first adult you truly trust. It's the connection you make with your first horse. It's learning to be yourself with others who share your love of horses. 🐴
We have watched learners who didn't speak become group leaders. We've watched young people who had never touched a horse go all the way into the working world with horses. And we've seen the connections, confidence and life skills this amazing programme brings.
Bella has been training for months: fitness tests and hours learning a whole new style of riding, all while juggling her A levels, competing for Team GB in U21s horseball AND passing her BHS coach exam! 🇬🇧
In Bella's words:
"I have never been so tired, physically – my whole body hurts and my brain is a jumble of racing tactics, beating my 4-minute plank record and A level IT!!! But I would do it all again to support this amazing cause and see it change more lives. I know I wouldn't be the person I am today without horses in my life, and I want more people to have the same opportunities I have had." 💛
📅 Watch her race on Thursday 5th November at Newbury, just ONE WEEK AWAY, in her racing colours on her racehorse, kindly provided by racehorse trainer David Menuisier of Coombelands Racing Stables. Thank you, David! 🏇
A huge thank you also to our sponsor Spillers for supporting Bella and keeping her (and her horses!) fuelled through months of training 💚
Let's all get behind Bella and help raise money and awareness for this incredible programme! Every little helps 💛
