📣 MIRFIELD — PLEASE SHARE! 📣

We’re looking to welcome new members to Active Gold CIC following the recent expansion of our service in Mirfield.

Active Gold is designed especially for older adults and people living with long-term health conditions who want to move more, build strength and confidence, and enjoy being part of a friendly community.

Our power-assisted equipment helps you exercise at your own pace, with support from our team throughout your session. You don’t need to be fit, experienced or confident before you start — that’s exactly what we’re here to help with.

We’re based at The Salvation Army Community Hall in Mirfield and welcome people from Mirfield and the surrounding areas.

💛 Looking for a different way to stay active?

Active Gold is a friendly exercise and social community in Mirfield, designed especially for people aged 50+ and those living with long-term health conditions.

Our sessions use specialist power-assisted exercise equipment, helping members exercise at a pace that works for them.

People come to Active Gold for lots of different reasons:

💪 To build or maintain strength
🚶 To keep mobile and independent
😊 To improve confidence with exercise
❤️ To support their health and wellbeing
👋 And often simply to meet people and enjoy being part of a community

You don’t need any previous experience, and our team will show you exactly what to do.

We’re currently operating a waiting list for new members, but if Active Gold sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d still love to hear from you.

Joining the waiting list means we can contact you as soon as suitable trial spaces become available.

☀️ Keeping Cool at Active Gold ☀️

With the warmer weather continuing, we've been making a few changes here at Active Gold to help everyone stay as comfortable and safe as possible.

💧 We've been encouraging all of our members to stay well hydrated before, during and after their sessions.
🌬️ Fans have been on throughout the centre to keep the air moving.
🪑 We've also been reminding everyone that it's absolutely fine to slow down, take a break and have a sit down whenever they need to.

Staying active is still incredibly important, even in the heat, but listening to your body is just as important. If you're feeling thirsty, dizzy, unusually tired or unwell, please let one of the team know straight away.

A few simple tips for staying safe in the heat:
✅ Bring a bottle of water with you.
✅ Wear light, comfortable clothing.
✅ Drink regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.
✅ Take your time and don't push yourself.

Our team is always here to make sure everyone exercises safely while still enjoying all the benefits of keeping active.

"You never know where a conversation about aches and pains might lead..."

A Little Gym Story... 😊
The other day at the gym, a fellow gym-goer was telling me how much discomfort she was having with her knees while using the exercise bike.
After our workout, I offered to spend just 5 minutes giving her a quick Emmett treatment.
Two days later, I walked back into the gym and was greeted with a huge smile. Before I could even say hello, she called me a "miracle worker!"
Of course, I'll leave the miracle-working to someone else, but it's always lovely to hear when someone is feeling the benefit of treatment so quickly.
It's a great reminder that sometimes a few gentle Emmett moves can make a real difference to comfort, movement and confidence.

🔨 Renovation Update 🔨

We're pleased to say that everything is going well with our renovation project and, most importantly, everything is currently on track! 🎉

A few people have asked to see photos of the work in progress, but we've made the decision not to share any pictures just yet. We want to keep the finished result as a surprise for everyone and can't wait to reveal it when the work is complete! 👀

Whilst the centre is being transformed, we've been keeping busy with a range of activities throughout the week. Our members have been enjoying our Keep Active Walks, getting out in the fresh air, staying active, and enjoying great company along the way. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

We've also continued with our Flex & Stretch and Breathe & Move classes, helping everyone stay moving, maintain mobility, and support their wellbeing during the renovation period. 🧘‍♀️💪

A huge thank you to everyone for your patience, support, and enthusiasm. We can't wait to welcome you back and show you the finished transformation very soon!

🚧✨ ONE WEEK TO GO! ✨🚧

It’s hard to believe it… but we are now just ONE WEEK away from renovation works starting at Active Gold CIC!

After months of planning, fundraising, and an incredible amount of support from our community, we’re finally about to see things start to take shape.

This is such a big milestone for us. What started as an idea to help more people stay active, independent, and connected is now becoming reality. 💛

These improvements will help us support even more people aged 50+ through accessible, power-assisted exercise and a welcoming space that helps tackle inactivity and loneliness in our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared posts, encouraged us, or believed in what we’re trying to build — we genuinely couldn’t have done this without you.

We’ll be sharing updates as the work gets underway next week, so keep an eye out for progress!

Here’s to the next chapter beginning 🚀
