We are so quick to chase health through restriction, control, or fixing but I really feel we are missing a trick with all that…what if I tell you that just by cultivating a little more joy in your life could improve your health?

I’m not talking about the big stuff but the small moments or silly stuff like a quiet coffee, watching a sunset or dancing around your kitchen. What is it that genuinely puts a smile on your face and lights you up or makes your nervous system sigh in relief?

Joy isn’t something we earn when all the jobs are done, the house is tidy, the emails are all answered and the to-do list is complete….that’s all a never ending list of B.S quite frankly. Joy is the thing that’s gonna shift your state and help improve your health!!

Errrgghhh someone go back in time and give this girl a hug….or a damn good shake 🫨

I honestly thought I was “handling it”. Quite clearly I wasn’t 🫤 from the outside, I had my sh*t together, bouncing about with energy & confidence but inside I was flagging.

For years I ran on coffee, quick foods, red wine and thin-air at times. I skipped meals because I was “too busy” and ignored exhaustion like a badge of honour 🙄

I told myself I was unstoppable, invincible almost…even when my body started telling me otherwise, I just cracked on and continued to power through!

Constant yawning, heavy limbs, mood swings, quick tempered, bloating, headaches, back ache…i just swept it all under the carpet until I couldn’t anymore (how I thought this was all normal for a women in her 30’s I do not know 🤯)

What I realise now is there is absolutely bu**er all ‘high performance’ about pushing your body through the mill and to the point of burnout. High performance is fuelling your body to FEEL mega whilst chasing your goals, it’s recognising that rest is as important as hustle. Gotta have a bit of Yin to the old Yang ya know!!

So many women are prescribed the pill 💊 often even for reasons beyond birth control—like acne or irregular periods—but it really bothers me that we are not given all the facts about how this could impact our health (both emotional and physical).

I know this can be a controversial topic and I believe every woman has the right to make the decision that works best for them BUT that should always be a well informed, empowered choice!

Before getting into the depths of how you can OPTIMISE your hormones…go back to basics…could you address/improve 1 or 2 of the points made in this picture to help balance your hormones? ⚖️

As I slowly started to work on each of these areas (by the way I had bu**er all idea these were causing havoc with my hormones…not to mention the contraceptive pill 🤯🤯) I really started to notice an improvement in the way I felt, my energy, how my body looked/felt, and my mindset/mood 💥✨

One of my biggest takeaways this month is from Mel Robbins’ book….applying the ‘Let them’ theory in daily life because external stress is not worth disrupting inner peace, hormone balance or any part of my health quite frankly. Rest is such a vital component to being healthy which we can so often disregard as indulgent or make no space for because we jam out diaries full of activity, jobs and tasks.

Past me would have felt guilty to chill because it would have felt like a waste of time to not be productive, and I’ll admit…I used to push myself too hard. But sometimes the most productive thing you can do it give yourself the grace to rest.

When we think of rest we think of sleep, crashing in front of the TV or sitting with with a cuppa….but it’s important to consider how we can rest our mind, body and soul, whether that be time in nature, reading a book, time with family, or cultivating joy.

I am manifesting some big sh*t this year and that means i am on my A game during the week busting out all the masculine energy….but I recognise I need to bring a little yin to my yang, a little feminine energy…and just take some time to pause, because that’s when the real magic happens ✨
