It was a little wet and windy as we headed out for lunch but we didn't let that dampen our spirits.
We had a delicious spot of lunch at The Commodore Pub, Southbourne. The food was very tasty and the ladies enjoyed a glass of Merlot, whilst the men had a pint of Guinness.
Tony thought it was a great day out. Anne and Pam both said 'its lovely here' and admired the views of the sea. Anne said she could even see the Isle of White.

Movement is so important to maintaining mobility. We are very lucky that we have visits from Pavilion Dance providing 'Movement to Music' sessions.

Residents are encouraged to follow simple movements to well known songs, using a variety of equipment such as colourful silk scarves, hand held shaker maracas and even a giant elastic loop, which we held in a circle and did movements together. We even managed a 'Mexican Wave'.
This activity is so good. It is loved by residents of all abilities and the staff think it is amazing too.

Our marvellous resident Eileen absolutely loves Elephants. When she asked to see some we couldn't take her to the safari park but we could bring two to the home! Staff happily donned blow up elephant outfits to surprise her in her room.
Her daughter Angela was there and she filmed and took photographs for Eileen.
Eileen thought it was so much fun to see two elephants in her room, she said 'I cant believe you've done this, I love elephants'.

Viva La Fiesta!
We had a fantastic time at our Mexican Fiesta Summer Fayre. The atmosphere was full of colour, music and laughter. Our fabulous entertainer Steve got right into the spirit of the day, arriving dressed for the occasion.
We had a wonderful selection of stalls, a tempting cake sale and of course some delicious Mexican food lovingly created by our amazing Chef Nathan and his team.
The Staff also embraced the theme with some fantastic Mexican outfits - and huge fake moustaches!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Summer Fayre such a colourful, fun-filled and memorable fiesta.

The new M&S Food Hall in Parkstone opened its doors on Wednesday so we had to try it out!
There was a huge crowd of eager shoppers bustling around the huge store looking at all of the tempting food.
We all chose something to buy and some delicious treats to bring back to the home for the other residents to share. Ann said 'Thank you for taking me, I cant believe how busy it is.'

What a fantastic day celebrating our amazing team!
After watching our wonderful colleagues Beth, Jo and Claire receive their well deserved Star Award nominations from Head Office, the celebrations continued as we headed to our very own Festival themed party.
Our 'Alex Fest' awards party was in full swing with a vibrant balloon arch, a fun filled photo area complete with guitars, microphones, hay bales and even two inflatable cows!
With music playing, rainbow glitter streamers and bubbles floating in the air the atmosphere was truly magical.
Staff wore their gifts of flower crowns, bandanas and specially printed lanyards and got into the spirit making it a day to remember.
A huge thank you to our talented chefs Nathan and Vic and their team for the delicious spread that kept everyone fuelled for fun.
From dancing and laughter to silly photos and great food we had an absolute blast celebrating together.
Moments like these remind us how special our team here at Alexandra House really is.

Alexandra House residents had a spectacular morning soaking up the sun on board the Friends of the Dolphin boat trip. We boarded at Poole Quay and took in the superb views as we made our way around Brownsea and the other islands. Ann was reminiscing about a sailing trip she had taken in the past.
The crew treated us to nice refreshing cold juice and tasty biscuits before we tucked into our picnic sandwiches.
We decided that it was such an amazing day and gorgeous weather we could have been anywhere in the Mediterranean! Pam said 'its like being in San Tropez.'

Football Fun with Friends!
We had an amazing morning with our friends from Dorset House. They hosted a Care South 'World Cup' event with AFCB at Dorset House where we pitted our best players against theirs in some superb skills-based games. We had some target games with a football and coloured mats, a throwing game where we had to score on a Velcro dartboard and finally a penalty shootout. It was such good fun and there was plenty of camaraderie and cheering each other on. A huge thank you to AFBC and to Dorset House for making us so welcome.
The winners on the day were the Alexandra House team and we were delighted.
On the way back to Alexandra House, we made the most of the glorious weather by stopping off alongside Poole Quay to eat a delicious ice cream.

We wished a very Happy 60th Birthday to Claire, who is such a hard working, kind and caring staff member at Alexandra House. She regularly picks up extra shifts to assist the care team, housekeeping and kitchens and is wonderful with residents and colleagues.
Claire, we hope you enjoyed your lovely cake, card and flowers. You deserve a superb 60th.

We had a wonderful time celebrating fathers Day here at our home.

Our gentlemen residents were delighted with their thoughtful gifts of hankies, biscuits and chocolate - all of which went down a treat!

It was lovely to see their families visiting - the gentlemen thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their loved ones and capturing special moments together.

To top off a perfect day, everyone tucked into some delicious cakes freshly made by our talented chef Vic.

A truly special day filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
