One of the biggest misconceptions in aesthetics is that every concern can be treated with skin rejuvenation alone.
Treatments such as NeoGen, skin boosters and regenerative procedures are incredible for improving skin quality, stimulating collagen and creating healthier, more youthful skin. However, when ageing is caused by structural volume loss, improving the skin alone won’t fully correct the issue.
In this patient, there was significant volume loss through the mid-face, resulting in a deep jugal groove. Over time, the facial fat pads descend, ligaments lose support and the underlying bone and soft tissues naturally reduce in volume, creating shadowing and a tired appearance.
To restore the face naturally, Nurse Rachael used a layering technique with the Teoxane RHA range:
✨ RHA 4 was placed deeply onto the bone to recreate structural support.
✨ RHA 3 was then used within the mid-tissue to replace lost volume and support the descended fat pads.
✨ Finally, RHA 1 was carefully placed in the superficial layer to soften the transition, improve hydration and create a beautifully smooth finish.
The aim was never to make the patient look “filled”, it was to replace what time had taken away, restoring support, softening shadows and achieving a fresher, more rested appearance while maintaining her natural features.
A tailored treatment plan is always the key. Sometimes the answer is collagen stimulation, sometimes it’s restoring lost volume, and very often it’s a thoughtful combination of both.
