Two weeks today, adult flu vaccination starts across England.

From 1 October you can have a free NHS flu vaccine if you are 65 or over, if you are aged 18 to 64 with certain long‑term health conditions, if you are a carer, if you live in a long‑stay care home, or if you live with someone who has a weakened immune system.

Frontline health and social care staff are covered too, usually through their employer.

Some people are already eligible. Anyone who is pregnant, children aged 2 and 3, and school‑aged children from reception to year 11 have been able to have the flu vaccine since 1 September.

The autumn COVID vaccine this year is for adults aged 75 and over, people living in care homes for older adults, and anyone aged 6 months or over who is immunosuppressed. Those appointments also begin on 1 October, and booking is already open.
