Three café tricks that cost nothing, for one of the trickiest places to follow a conversation.

1. Pick the seat with your back to a wall, well away from the coffee machine and the door.
2. Sit with your back to the window, so the light falls on your friends' faces, not behind them. Seeing faces clearly helps more than people expect.
3. Go mid-morning, before the lunch rush. Same café, half the noise.

What's your trick? Share it below, someone else will thank you for it.

Clarity Pro has a new name: Cantara Pro.

Same amplifiers. Same model codes. Same ForSound app. Same UK team answering your questions.

Why change it? A number of businesses sell hearing products under names very close to Clarity Pro, and some people had contacted us about orders they'd actually placed elsewhere. A name that's only ours makes it clearer who you're dealing with.

If you already own a pair, you don't need to do anything. Your warranty carries on from your original purchase date.

Our Clarity CIC range keeps its name.

Have you ever ordered something online and then not been sure who you'd actually bought from?

Be honest, where's the hardest place to follow a conversation?

A. The café, with the coffee machine going
B. The pub on a busy night
C. Family dinner, everyone talking at once
D. The car, sat in the front

Pop your letter in the comments. We'll share a few tips for the winner later this week.

Clarity CIC or Cantara Elite? An honest way to choose.

Clarity CIC, £79.95
Our lower-cost pair. Up to 12 hours per charge, with up to 120 additional hours from the charging case.

B. In the car

Just the letter is plenty. We read every reply and will use the answers to choose what we write about next.

IPX4 on the box means splash resistant. It does not mean waterproof.

If you are comparing hearing amplifiers for someone else, three bits of jargon come up again and again. Here is what they mean in plain English.

CIC: completely in the canal. The amplifier sits inside the ear rather than behind it. Discreet, but the parts are small.

IPX4: protected against splashes from any direction. Rain on a walk is fine. We would always take them out before a shower, bath or swim.

Up to: battery figures are a best case. Real hours depend on volume and how long they are worn each day.

Worth sharing with whoever you are buying for, so you can decide together.

When an in-ear amplifier suddenly sounds quiet, the fix often takes about ten seconds.

It is often not the battery. It is the tiny opening the sound comes out of, which can block with everyday wax.

Three checks, in this order:

1. Look at the sound outlet. If it looks clogged, clean it gently with the brush from the box.
2. Check the dome. A blocked or split dome muffles sound too, so swap in a fresh one.
3. Then check the charge.

Save this for the next time things go flat. Still quiet after all three? Message us and we will work through it with you.
