One of those questions people think is too small to ask. It isn't. 😅

For a physical assessment, your therapist may need to see how the relevant area moves.

So think comfortable and easy to move in.

- For a leg or knee problem, shorts can be useful.

- For a shoulder or upper-body problem, a vest or loose top can make assessment easier.

Most importantly, if you're unsure or uncomfortable about anything, ask your therapist.

There really are no silly pre-appointment questions.

📌 Save this before your next appointment.

When people hear Pilates, they often think “stretching”.
But there's much more going on.

Pilates can work on strength, balance, posture and flexibility.

And in a 1:1 session, Gemma can tailor what you're doing to your own starting point and goals.

No trying to keep pace with a class.
No worrying what the person next to you is doing.

Just focused movement that's appropriate for you.

🧘 Curious about 1:1 Pilates? Ask us a question or give us a call.

Ever started with one innocent Google search… and ended up convinced you've got six different conditions? 😅

Health information online can be overwhelming.

That's one reason we've built our own library of free online resources.

You'll find straightforward information covering common injuries, pain, recovery, sport-specific problems and longer-term conditions.

They're there to help you understand, not diagnose yourself.

And they're free to explore whenever you need them via our website: thetherapyvenue.co.uk/resources

Tell me what's been happening…”
And suddenly your brain provides absolutely no useful information. 😶

- You've been thinking about the problem all week.
- You've complained about it at home.
- You've Googled it.
- You've probably demonstrated the exact movement that bothers you to someone.

Then you get into your appointment and… “Erm… it just hurts.”

That's completely fine.
You don't need to diagnose yourself or learn medical terminology before seeing a therapist.

But noticing a few things beforehand can make it easier to describe what's actually been happening.

- When do you notice it?
- What are you doing when it appears?
- What makes it feel better or worse?
- What can't you do as easily as you normally would?
- Has anything changed?
- And — importantly — what did you want to ask?

Pop a few notes into your phone as you notice things during the week.
Then you've got them when you need them.

👀 Once is annoying. Every few weeks is a pattern.

Your shoulder settles… then returns.
Your back behaves… until the next long drive.
Your knee is “fine”… until you try that one activity again.

When something repeatedly disappears and comes back, it can be tempting to accept it as “just one of those things.”

But recurring problems can be worth looking at more closely.

Not because every niggle means something serious.
But because understanding when, why and during what activities it happens can give useful information.

Next time it appears, don't just notice where it hurts.
Notice what you were doing beforehand too.

📌 Save this and start spotting your pattern.

Migraine can take more than a day.

It can take plans. Energy. Focus.
And sometimes the hardest part is feeling like other people don't understand.

Our latest blog explores why migraine is about more than head pain.

📖 Read the full blog on our website: thetherapyvenue.co.uk/migraine-more-than-just-a-headache

And share this with someone who's tired of hearing, “It's just a headache.”

Pain doesn't always stay in one place.

It can affect your sleep. Your plans. Your mood.
Even the things you choose not to do.

That's why persistent pain can be about so much more than the body part that hurts. And you don't have to “look unwell” to be struggling.

❤️ Save this as a reminder: your experience matters.
