When does something you do every day become something you actually look forward to?

I think there's a difference between a habit and a little ritual.

A habit is something you do because it's part of your routine.

A ritual is something you take a moment to enjoy.

Take my Aloe Vera Drinking Gel, for example.

It's part of my morning routine, and I genuinely enjoy it. Apple & Açai is still my favourite flavour, although I like the grape one too.

It's not something I have to remind myself to do because it's become a normal part of my day.

And I think that's the key with lots of the little things we do for ourselves.

They don't need to be complicated, expensive or take up loads of time.

Whether it's taking your supplements, doing your skincare, enjoying a cup of tea or spending ten minutes reading, sometimes it's nice to have something that's just part of YOUR day.

I'm definitely more of a morning routine person. By the evening, what gets done very much depends on how much energy I've got left. πŸ˜‚

And I'm not someone who believes you need a perfect routine to look after yourself.

Something simple that fits into your life is far more useful than an elaborate routine you never manage to stick to.

So, what little thing is part of your everyday routine that you actually enjoy?

And are you more of a morning routine person, or do you prefer taking a bit of time for yourself in the evening? πŸ’œ

Do you actually need to scrub your skin to get it clean? πŸ€”

We've probably all done it at some point.

Used a body scrub and thought that the harder we rub, the better the results will be.

But that's not really how exfoliation works.

Cleansing and exfoliating are two different things.

πŸ’œ Cleansing removes everyday dirt, sweat and oils from the surface of your skin.

πŸ’œ Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells from the surface, leaving skin feeling smoother and softer.

And you don't need to scrub your skin within an inch of its life to get the benefits.

One of the products in our ESSENS body care range is the Aloe Vera Body Scrub.

It's designed to exfoliate the skin, helping to remove dead surface skin cells while leaving it feeling smooth and cared for.

I think body scrubs are one of those products that can easily get overlooked, especially when we're concentrating on looking after our faces.

But the skin on the rest of our body deserves a bit of attention too.

A few things worth remembering:

πŸ’œ Use gentle circular movements rather than scrubbing hard.

πŸ’œ Don't exfoliate irritated, broken or sunburnt skin.

πŸ’œ Follow with a moisturiser to help keep skin feeling soft and comfortable.

And you don't necessarily need to exfoliate every day. How often depends on your skin and the product you're using.

Do you use a body scrub regularly, occasionally when you fancy a bit of pampering, or is it something you never bother with?

And when you do use one, do you prefer a gentle scrub or something with a more noticeable exfoliating texture? πŸ’œ

Two wallets full of perfume samples. That's a LOT of sniffing. πŸ˜‚

One of the things I love about selling ESSENS fragrances is helping people find something they actually like, rather than choosing a perfume just because the description sounds nice.

And that's where my sample wallets come in.

I've got samples of all our fragrances spread across two wallets, so whether I'm at a stall or meeting someone, there's plenty to explore.

Some people know exactly what they want.

Others tell me they love a particular perfume and ask if I've got something similar.

And then there are the ones who start off saying β€œI'm only having a look” and end up sniffing their way through half the collection. πŸ˜‚

I don't use tester strips because I find fragrances can smell quite different once they're on your skin.

So if something catches your attention, I'd much rather you try it properly and see how it develops.

And you don't have to meet me in person either.

I can also send perfume samples through the post, so you can try a few fragrances at home before deciding whether you'd like a full bottle.

With so many fragrances available, there's no need to choose completely blind.

Have you ever bought a perfume without trying it first and regretted it?

Or is there a particular fragrance you'd love to find something similar to?

Let me know what you normally wear and I'll see what I can suggest. πŸ’œ

Be honest, do you actually read the instructions on your skincare products?

Or do you just open them, have a look at what's inside and get stuck in?

I think we're probably all guilty of assuming we know how to use something.

But sometimes the instructions are worth a second look.

Take my ESSENS Must Have Edition Hydrating Face Mask, for example.

It's one of those products that's a little more versatile than you might expect.

πŸ’œ Need a quick hydration boost?

Apply a layer to clean skin, leave it for around 15 minutes, then remove as directed.

πŸ’œ Fancy giving your skin a bit more attention overnight?

You can also use it as an overnight mask, applying a thin layer and leaving it on while you sleep.

Two different ways to use the same product, depending on what suits you.

And it's not just face masks.

Some skincare products need rinsing off, others are designed to stay on. Some only need a tiny amount, while others have specific directions about how often they should be used.

Using more product doesn't automatically mean better results.

And leaving something on for longer than recommended isn't necessarily going to do your skin any favours either.

Sometimes getting the best out of a product is simply about using it properly.

So which are you?

The person who reads every instruction before opening anything, or the one who only looks when something doesn't quite go to plan? πŸ˜‚

And have you ever discovered you'd been using a product incorrectly for ages? X

Sometimes it's the little products that surprise you most.

When I first started exploring the ESSENS skincare ranges, I was naturally drawn to the cleansers, serums and moisturisers.

Eye gel? I wasn't particularly bothered.

I mean, how much difference could one little product make?

But the Colostrum+ Eye Gel has become one of those products I really enjoy using.

It's light, feels lovely and refreshing around my eyes, and I only need a small amount.

The skin around our eyes is thinner and more delicate than much of the rest of our face, so it's an area that can benefit from a little extra care.

And that's where this little gel comes in.

πŸ’œ Helps moisturise the delicate eye area.
πŸ’œ Leaves the skin feeling refreshed and comfortable.
πŸ’œ Helps the skin look smoother and more hydrated.

It's not about expecting miracles or pretending a little pot of gel is going to make me look 25 again. πŸ˜‚

It's simply about finding products I enjoy using and that fit easily into my routine.

And I've found that some of the products I initially overlooked have ended up being the ones I reach for regularly.

Have you ever tried a product you weren't particularly interested in, only to discover you absolutely loved it?

And do you use a separate eye product, or does your usual face moisturiser do the job for you? πŸ’œ

Does a higher price tag automatically mean a better product? πŸ€”

I think we're all guilty of assuming that if something costs more, it must be better.

Especially when it comes to skincare, perfume and beauty products.

But expensive doesn't always mean better, and cheaper doesn't automatically mean poor quality either.

Sometimes you're paying for the ingredients and formulation. Sometimes you're paying for beautiful packaging, advertising or a very well-known name.

And sometimes you're paying for a bit of everything.

One of the things I've learned through using ESSENS products is that how much you actually need to use matters just as much as the price on the bottle.

I've got skincare products where a small amount goes a long way, so I'm not constantly replacing them.

And that's something I think gets overlooked when we're comparing prices.

A Β£15 product that lasts a month isn't necessarily better value than a Β£25 product that lasts three months.

Of course, it's not just about how long something lasts either.

Does it suit you? Do you enjoy using it? Does it do what you bought it for?

Those are the things that matter to me.

I'm certainly not against treating myself to something more expensive, but I don't believe a fancy price tag guarantees I'll love it.

What about you?

Is there something you happily spend a bit more on because you know it's worth it?

Or have you ever tried an expensive product and discovered you actually preferred a cheaper alternative? πŸ’œ

Have you ever bought someone a present that YOU absolutely loved, but they weren't quite so enthusiastic?

I think we've probably all done it at some point.

It's easy to choose something because we'd love to receive it ourselves, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's right for the person we're buying for.

And with Christmas shopping starting to creep into my thoughts, I've been thinking about how differently people enjoy being treated.

πŸ’œ The practical one.

They'd rather have something they'll actually use than another present that sits in a cupboard. Lovely hand creams, body care or everyday essentials might be just the thing.

πŸ’œ The pampering one.

They enjoy taking a bit of time for themselves. A gorgeous face mask, skincare treat or something for a relaxing evening could be ideal.

πŸ’œ The home-loving one.

They're happiest when they're cosy at home and love making their surroundings feel welcoming. A home fragrance could be a lovely choice.

πŸ’œ The fragrance lover.

Now, this one's probably the easiest for me. πŸ˜‚ Although even then, I'd want to know what sort of scents they enjoy rather than just choosing my own favourite.

That's one of the nice things about having so many different ESSENS products available. There's plenty of choice beyond perfume, and I enjoy helping people find something that suits the person they're buying for.

A thoughtful present doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. It just needs to show you've thought about the person receiving it.

So, which type of person are YOU when it comes to receiving gifts?

Practical, pampering, home-loving or fragrance lover?

And are you someone who loves a surprise, or would you rather people asked what you wanted so they got it right? 🎁

Why is the same ingredient in your face cream, body lotion AND hand cream? πŸ€”

Have you ever looked at the ingredients on your skincare products and spotted GLYCERIN?

It's one of those ingredients that pops up everywhere, but what does it actually do?

Well, glycerin is what we call a humectant.

That's just a fancy way of saying it helps attract and hold water in the outer layers of your skin.

And that's quite an important job.

πŸ’œ Helps with hydration - attracts moisture to help keep skin feeling soft and comfortable.

πŸ’œ Supports the skin barrier - helps maintain hydration, which is important for keeping our skin in good condition.

πŸ’œ Helps skin feel smoother - particularly useful when skin is feeling dry or tight.

And here's something interesting.

Glycerin isn't some fancy new ingredient that's suddenly become fashionable. It's been used in skincare for years because it's effective, versatile and works well alongside lots of other ingredients.

You'll find it in all sorts of products, including ESSENS skincare and body care.

But does more glycerin automatically mean a better product?

Not necessarily.

It's the overall formulation that matters, including the other ingredients and how they work together.

That's why I think it's worth understanding a little about what's actually IN our products rather than just going by the claims on the front of the bottle.

Do you ever read the ingredients on your skincare products, or do you tend to go by how a product feels and whether it works for you?

And is there another skincare ingredient you've come across that you'd like me to explain in plain English? πŸ’œ

It's October. Surely we can put the sunscreen away now? πŸ‚

Not necessarily!

We tend to associate sun protection with summer holidays, sitting on the beach and those rare Scottish days when the sun actually makes an appearance. πŸ˜‚

But the sun doesn't disappear just because the temperature drops.

And here's something worth knowing.

β˜€οΈ UVA rays are present throughout the year. They can pe*****te clouds and window glass and contribute to premature skin ageing.

β˜€οΈ UVB rays are the main cause of sunburn. They're generally stronger during the summer months, but they can still affect our skin at other times of year.

So even when it's cool outside, UV protection can still be important.

I think it's easy to forget about sunscreen once the summer clothes have been packed away.

But if you're spending time outdoors, particularly when the UV index is 3 or above, it's worth remembering that protecting your skin isn't just a holiday habit.

And with ESSENS having its own sun care range, it's something I can help with beyond the summer months too.

Do you use SPF on your face all year round, or is it something you only think about when the weather gets warmer?

And be honest - have you ever been caught out by the sun on a day that didn't actually feel particularly warm? X

Can your skin be oily AND dehydrated at the same time?

Absolutely! And this is something that can cause quite a bit of confusion when choosing skincare.

Because dry skin and dehydrated skin aren't actually the same thing.

πŸ’œ DRY SKIN

Dry skin is a skin type that naturally produces less oil (sebum).
It might feel rough, tight or flaky, and often benefits from richer moisturisers that help support the skin's protective barrier.

πŸ’œ DEHYDRATED SKIN

Dehydration is about a lack of water in the skin rather than oil.
And here's the interesting bit - even oily skin can be dehydrated!
Your skin might look shiny but still feel tight, or you might notice fine lines looking more obvious when your skin is lacking moisture.

And unlike your natural skin type, dehydration can affect anyone.

So what does that mean for your skincare?

It means choosing the right products isn't simply about whether your skin is oily or dry.

Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin help attract water, while moisturisers can help reduce moisture loss and keep skin feeling comfortable.

That's why I like having different options within the ESSENS skincare ranges. Not everyone needs the same texture or type of moisturiser.

And sometimes a lightweight hydrating product is exactly what you want, rather than automatically reaching for the richest cream available.

So here's my question for you. Does your skin tend to feel:

πŸ’œ Dry and tight.
πŸ’œ Oily or shiny.
πŸ’œ A mixture of both.
πŸ’œ Pretty balanced most of the time.

And have you ever noticed your skin feeling tight even when it doesn't look particularly dry?

I'd be interested to know, because understanding how your skin actually feels is a great starting point when choosing skincare. X
