We’re excited to share that, after five years in the making, a new process which enables international recognition of new Mindfulness-Based Programmes (MBPs), has launched.

Together with the Dutch Association of Mindfulness-Based Trainers (VMBN), we recognised the need for new mindfulness programmes to meet certain criteria including being safe, effective and innovative and for a process which supports the evolution and relevancy of the field.

The administration of applications is being managed by the newly-founded International Panel for the Acknowledgement of Mindfulness-based Programmes (IPA) and operates independently under the umbrella of eamba (the European Associations for Mindfulness).

Find out more about the application process, its background and criteria here: https://bamba.org.uk/new-mindfulness-based-programme-acknowledgement/

We are proud to be offering three EDI Project Roles to form the foundations of an EDI partnership and programme task force for BAMBA.

Working with the core Executive team and Trustees at BAMBA, these individuals will design and implement the approach to priority EDI strategic areas.

For several years, BAMBA has been focusing on how best to position the work of EDI within the organisation. During our research, a key message we received was that the complexity of EDI concerns warrants collaborative ways of working that draw upon the diverse perspectives of people with lived experience of underserved, underrepresented and disadvantaged communities, as well as mindfulness and JEDI expertise. Consequently, these roles are designed to do exactly that and ensure BAMBA has access to competent advice and guidance in relation to integration of EDI into everything BAMBA does.

As part of this EDI task force, the successful candidates will focus primarily on the following areas of work:

1⃣ Design and implement an EDI Quality Assessment process for Teacher Training Organisations
2⃣ To identify and establish funding streams, to include a review of BAMBAs approach to membership.
3⃣ To create a space that enables the EDI conversation to develop for Mindfulness Teachers and Practitioners where we can encourage the field to engage with the core commitments of BAMBA’s EDI vision.

We are looking for three individuals to work as a team who have a diverse background and mixed skill set. Ideally, candidates will have a strong background in EDI and mindfulness; be able to navigate their way through research and know how to build EDI initiatives into existing organisations.

These roles are for a fixed term, pending review for extension and are remote flexible working with elements of collaboration time required between the three successful candidates.

If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you.

To find out ways to apply, visit our website: https://bamba.org.uk/bamba-are-offering-project-roles-for-an-edi-partnership-and-programmes-task-force/

Applications close Friday 17th November 2023.

Tomorrow in the Mindful Workplace Community it’s Book Club 📚

We’ll be exploring “What happens in Mindfulness: Inner Awakening and Embodied Cognition” by John Teasdale.
Book Summary…

‘Well known for applying mindfulness to the treatment of depression, pioneering researcher John Teasdale now explores the broader changes that people can experience through contemplative practices. What goes on in our minds when we are mindful?

What does it mean to talk of mindfulness as a way of being? From a scientific perspective, how do core elements of contemplative traditions have their beneficial effects?

Teasdale describes two types of knowing that human beings have evolved–conceptual and holistic–intuitive–and shows how mindfulness can achieve a healthier balance between them.

He masterfully describes the mechanisms by which this shift in consciousness not only can reduce emotional suffering, but also can lead to greater joy and compassion and a transformed sense of self.’
Whether you’ve read the book, are reading it or would just like to find out more... we’d love for you to join us!

The event is free to existing members of the Mindful Workplace Community or you’re welcome to come along as a guest. Tickets are £5.

Zoom | Thursday 19 Jan | 11:30-13:00 (UK time)

In this session, the MWC will be joined by Psychologist and Coach Dr Emma Donaldson-Feilder to host “Relational Mindfulness: An Experiential Introduction for Mindfulness Teachers”.

As mindfulness teachers, our way of being with our clients and groups will influence outcomes perhaps as much as the words we use. Our mindfulness practice is a vital support in being aware and discerning about what we embody.

The aim of this session is to enable you to experience Relational Mindfulness and how it can help you:

🔹Bring present moment, non-judgemental awareness to speaking and listening in your work and beyond
🔹Build moment by moment awareness of your own and others’ relational habits and patterns
🔹Develop supportive, collaborative relationships, with greater understanding of and kindness towards each other
🔹Establish more resilient ways of being in relationship and more flexible ways of dealing with challenging relational moments
🔹Bring greater wisdom, insight, and different perspectives to your interactions with other people
