There has been a big change in my life the last 10 months with now being a mummy of two boys; which has been a life changing experience and still feels I am on a rollercoaster! 🤣

Has summer killed your exercise mojo? We've all been there!
First and foremost -- DONT FEEL GUILTY 🤭
Summer is hectic, you might have had kids home - it's all stacked against you, put away the negative feelings you are carrying and turn the page for a fresh start.
Secondly make a plan - write down some goals you want to achieve from getting back into an exercise routine, and even pop them on the fridge to keep them handy. Nothing helps you more to stick to a new routine than a concrete plan.👍🏻
However make sure that plan is achievable - maybe start with 30-40 mins at the workout plus a walk with friends, then build up. 📈
But mainly - don't fall prey to comparison - you know what works for you, and if you need some help or guidance please get in touch!

I use to prioritise cardio training more than strength training but when I started to see the benefits of doing strength training, my mindset changed and now have a balance between the both!

✔️tendon, ligament, & joint function
✔️insulin sensitivity
Decreased/reduced:

Buzzing - EMF 10km 🏃🏽♀️🏅
What an amazing run this morning @edinburghmarathonfestival !! 🙌🏻
5 years since I last ran in an event and it felt great to be back!! Challenging but fanatics route, great atmosphere and it felt great to feel that adrenaline buzz that running in event gives you!! 💪🏻
The last two years my running has taken a big hit; broke my foot in 2022, in 2023 I was pregnant and gave birth to Finn by c-section. Even though I got back to running before falling pregnant and I ran during my pregnancy my running has not been as consistent as it used to be! So I as for my result today I am SUPER HAPPY!! 🙌🏻
Next up is training for Great Scottish Half Marathon in October, BRING IT ON!! 💪🏻

Whilst focusing on my pelvic floor exercises I have also taken my back into consideration. When having a baby our back gets put through a lot of strain whilst being pregnant and after our baby is born.
Here are 6 exercises that I have been doing to help strengthen my back and hopefully help prevent any back pain.
Exercises:
- 6/10 reps Alternate arm and leg raises
- 6/10 reps Bent-knee fire hydrants (each leg)
- 6/10 reps Chest raises
- 20/30 secs Centre plank
- 20/30 sec Side plank (each side)
- 30 secs Child pose
Repeat again

Building my body back to running after having my baby. 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️
Steps I have taken to get me back to running after giving birth;
🔸Short distance walks
🔸Pelvic floor and gentle core exercises
🔸Full own body strength exercises
🔸Stationary bike cycle
🔸Gradually lengthened my walks
🔸Fast stationary body movements
🔸Walk/run on treadmill
🔸Lower limb strength and pelvic floor control
🔸Walk/run outdoors
🔸Plyometrics exercises
🔸Short runs outdoors & treadmill
At 8 weeks postnatal I had my physio check up where they assess my tummy, scar, pelvic floor, global strength and posture and guided me on how to build up my core safely.
I am still working towards getting my running to where I want it to be, so I will keep doing the above throughout my programme and I am taking each week as it comes to gradually build on my distance and speed.
As anyone who’s had a baby will tell you, pregnancy and childbirth is a marathon not a sprint. Growing and delivering a baby can have some profound effects on your body. There has been relatively little scientific research done into returning to running postnatally, and it’s fair to say that there is no one-size fits all prescriptive approach. So please listen to your body, take small steps, go see a postnatal physio, do your homework and take it slow!! 😀

6 core exercises that take less than 10 minutes to do to help build my core strength and pelvic floor muscles since giving birth to Finn.
Exercises:
- 7/10 reps Pelvic floor tilts
- 7/10 reps Bridge
- 7/10 reps Single leg extension (each leg)
- 6/10 reps Alternate toe taps
- 20/30 secs Centre plank
- 20/30 sec Side plank (each side)
- 30 secs Child pose
Repeat again
Benefits of pelvic floor exercises:
Many factors can weaken the pelvic floor in women, such as pregnancy, childbirth, aging, and weight gain. The pelvic floor muscles support the womb, the bladder, and the bowels. If the muscles are weak, these pelvic organs may lower into a woman’s vagina.

One thing I have learnt during my postnatal recovery whilst working towards my fitness goals is it’s not got easier. It’s been more mentally challenging at times than physical, but by seeing the progress in my performance and feeling stronger each week makes me more determined to keep going and knowing that I will get to the place I want to be no matter how long it takes. I can and I will and I will not give up!! 💪🏻
So if you have set yourself a goal keep going. It can be tough, it may not come sooner than you want but you will get there so PLEASE don’t give up now!! 👊🏻
