🔊The government have announced that unpaid carers will no longer lose their entire Carer’s Allowance award if they go over the weekly earnings limit.

Read more below in the update from Contact - For families with disabled children

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

Carers will no longer lose their entire Carer's Allowance award if they go over the weekly earnings limit 📣👏

Under the planned change, payments would reduce by £1 for every £1 earned above the limit, replacing the current rule that can leave carers losing their whole award for earning just 1p too much.

Contact, alongside our parent carer campaigners, have long called for this change to help families balance paid work with caring.

A huge win for our parent carer campaigners 👏

Important date change for silent fireworks at Polesworth Donkey Sanctuary.

⚠️ IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE ⚠️

Due to the storm hitting us today and tomorrow, we have made the difficult decision to move our event from 24th October to 31st October

With the heavy rain and high winds forecast, it simply isn’t safe for our staff, animals or customers, and everyone’s health and safety has to come first.

We are so sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause, but the good news is that by moving the date we’ve been able to book even more entertainment for you to enjoy! 👻🎃

So get ready for an even bigger and better spooky night of fun on 31st October
Thank you so much for your understanding and support. We can’t wait to see you all next weekend! 🖤🎃👻

There is now just a week to go before the deadline to apply for a 2027 secondary school place. If your child is in Year 6 , then you must apply by 4pm on the 31 October. If you miss it, your child’s application won’t be considered until after all the others and their chances of getting a place at your preferred school are reduced.

Do you know about Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)?

The allowance provides support to cover the study-related costs you have because of a mental health problem, long-term illness or any other disability.

This can be on its own or in addition to any student finance you get.
The type of support and how much you get depends on your individual needs - not your household income.
