I do love the variety of concerns, issues, problems, pains, aches, worries that come into my clinic each day! No day is ever the same!
I feel so privileged to be able to provide what I believe to be high quality care in the beautiful surroundings of my clinic , in Sicklinghall, a lovely little village near Wetherby and Harrogate!

Little fun fact: stronger grip is linked with a lower risk of early death.

For a girl who mostly trains legs, this is unfamiliar territory. My stepsons are regularly shocked and appalled by my lack of arm training šŸ«£šŸ˜‚

But upper-body strength deserves some attention tooā€”pull-ups challenge your back, shoulders, arms and grip.

And if my hands give up first- which they always doā€¦the rest of me isnā€™t getting very far šŸ˜‚
Dead hangs help build the grip strength and endurance to hold my body weightā€”one foundation for that first pull-up.

So Iā€™m starting with hanging on. Literally.

So no promises that hanging about will add years to my lifeā€¦ but opening jars without asking my stepsons would be a nice start šŸ˜‚

I had a client this week who was told by her GP she wasnā€™t old enough for a pessaryā€¦.. now Iā€™m not GP bashing, but this really frustrated me, especially as this lady was in her 70s!!! But even if sheā€™d been a lot younger this comment would still have frustrated meā€¦ a pessary is one of the options in our toolkit for helping manage prolapse symptoms, and age should not be the factor that decides whether trying one is considered or not.
UK guidance says a pessary may be offered to a woman of any age. Suitability depends on individual assessment, symptoms, preferences and ongoing careā€”not simply your birthday.
It can be used alone or alongside other treatments. The right plan is personalā€”and you deserve to know your options and be given space to try these options to see what works for you. šŸ’—

How often do we put ourselves at the bottom of our own to-do list? šŸ‘€

Loved this quote shared by Louise Dr Louise Guilfoyle PhD | Health Coach at todayā€™s fabulous Athena Festival at Leeds University, run by Lifted. It really struck a chord. šŸ’œ

I see this so often in physio landā€¦
The niggling pain we keep putting off getting help for.
The leaking we quietly work around.
The strength exercises that never quite make it into the week because everyone else needs something first.

And I recognise it in myself too! Running a business, looking after a family and trying to squeeze in movement, rest and a little headspaceā€¦ itā€™s easy for my own needs to slip down the list.

Of course, making time for wellness canā€™t prevent every illness or injury. But we deserve care and attention before we reach the point where weā€™re forced to stop.

It doesnā€™t have to mean a complete lifestyle overhaul. A walk. A few strength exercises. Booking that appointment. Giving yourself permission to rest.

A little reminder for me as much as anyone else: you deserve a place on your own to-do list. šŸ’œ
