💜 National Menopause Day 💜
There was a time in my early 50s when I didn’t recognise myself.
As a fitness professional, I’d spent decades in my 30s and 40s feeling strong, energetic and confident in my body. Then things started to change.
Every afternoon felt like I hit a wall.
Not just tired, but exhausted.
My concentration disappeared, brain fog became my constant companion, and I’d find myself reading the same thing over and over because I simply couldn’t focus.
Then came the anxiety.
I’ve always loved connecting with people, but suddenly I found myself avoiding social events, cancelling plans and talking myself out of gatherings I’d normally enjoy. The thought of being in a crowded room felt overwhelming.
What frustrated me most, though, was my body.
I knew I was strong.
I knew I could lift the weight.
I knew what I was capable of.
Yet every time I tried to progress or change something in my training, another injury seemed to appear. A strain here. A niggle there. Recovery took longer and setbacks seemed to happen far more often.
It was confusing.
It was frustrating.
And if I’m honest, it was annoying .
I kept wondering why the things that had always worked no longer seemed to work.
What I didn’t realise at the time was that I wasn’t failing.
My body was changing.
Once I understood what was happening, everything shifted.
I learned that this season of life required a different approach. Not less strength, but smarter strength. Not more punishment, but more support. Not fighting my body, but working with it.
Today, I look back and realise peri menopause wasn’t taking my power away.
It was teaching me how to use it differently.
And now I have the privilege of helping other women understand that they’re not losing themselves either.
If you’re exhausted by 3pm, struggling with brain fog, feeling anxious, frustrated with injuries, or wondering why your body suddenly feels different, please know this:
✨ You are not broken. ✨ You are not lazy. ✨ You are not imagining it. ✨ You are not alone.
Menopause may change the rules, but it doesn’t change what’s possible.
In many ways, this chapter can become your strongest one yet. 💜
