I was reading an article recently about PSA testing and it got me thinking about men's health in this country.
Here's the thing, men don't tend to go to the doctor. We don't tend to go to hospitals. But there was one thing we did do, if a letter came through the post saying we were eligible for a free PSA test, most of us would go. That invitation mattered.
But the NHS has changed how it views PSA testing. They no longer automatically offer it at a certain age. Now it needs to be justified, symptoms, family history, that kind of thing. The consequence? A percentage of men will be lost who would have come forward with that simple invitation.
And here's what people don't realise, it's not just about the PSA.
When a man comes in for a blood test, he's in front of a trained professional. That professional can talk to him about his lifestyle, his health concerns, things that are worrying him. They can ask questions that uncover issues he might not have thought to mention. They can give him information that could change his trajectory, save his life, or help him avoid serious illness down the line.
That conversation, that access to a professional, is the real value.
Which is why we at Vital Health Checks have made a decision, we're running a free PSA blood test at the Queens Hotel on November 6th. No justification. No symptoms. Just come along and get yourself checked.
We've had quite a few people book already, which is fantastic. If you're interested in having your free PSA blood test, email me at [email protected] and we'll get you booked on. You'll receive your results from an Advanced nurse and a full report by email so you have it with you.
No barriers. Just access to a professional who cares about your health.
