Hi, I’m Megan. 🤍
I’m a qualified and licensed acupuncturist based in Ballincollig, Cork, and it’s about time I properly introduced myself.
People often ask me how I got into acupuncture. The truth is, I never planned to become an acupuncturist.
A few years ago, while living in London during COVID, I was working a demanding job. I was stressed, exhausted, and eventually my menstrual cycle stopped completely. I followed all the usual medical options, but nothing made a real difference. Eventually, someone suggested acupuncture.
To be honest, I wasn’t convinced.
But after just a few treatments, things began to change. My cycle returned, my stress became manageable, and my energy began to improve. How could something as simple as tiny needles have such a profound effect?
That experience completely changed my life.
When I moved back to Ireland, I enrolled in the Acupuncture College of Ireland. I spent three years studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, completing over 1,200 hours of clinical training before qualifying.
The more I learned, the more I realised that Chinese Medicine takes a completely different approach to health. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, it looks at the body as a whole, aiming to restore balance from the root.
It has been practised for over 2,000 years. While it’s different from the healthcare many of us are familiar with, I believe that’s what makes it so valuable. Western medicine is essential, and acupuncture isn’t about replacing it, it’s about complementing it. The two work beautifully together.
Today, I feel incredibly grateful to do something I genuinely love. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone leave the clinic feeling calmer, sleeping better, or simply feeling more like themselves again.
If you’ve ever been curious about acupuncture, I’d encourage you to keep an open mind. It really has to be experienced to be understood.
I’d love to welcome you to the clinic. 🌿
