This is a good example of how more than one remedy is indicated for a condition. Often one remedy takes the job where the previous one left it.
a) this often seems in complementary remedies, and Arnica and Ledum are complementary to each other.
You may know Arnica's primary affinity is to the blood vessels, so there is no mystery here why this would be the first remedy to think of for injuries and bruising. But did you know that Ledum also has a strong affinity to the capillary circulation and fibrous tissue of the eyes? Can you see why there are complementary and follow each other well in this case!
B) in a given condition, there is often more than one single tissue, organ or system involved and sometimes, working on all of them is necessary to achieve the desired results.
Symphytum, the last remedy of the trio, has a strong affinity to the cartilage, periosteum and flat bones (for example, the facial bones). Sometimes, the injury to the eye goes beyond the soft tissue and extends to the orbit of the eye, and this may be the last piece of the puzzle in some cases to finish the job.
