🎆 Firework season is here! 🐾💙🎃

Fireworks can be frightening for our furry friends. The sudden bangs, bright flashes and unfamiliar noises can leave some animals feeling anxious, unsettled and afraid.

Flower remedies are one gentle approach you may wish to consider to support your pets' emotional wellbeing during this stressful time. 🌸

🌟 Star of Bethlehem – traditionally associated with trauma and shock.

🌹 Rock Rose – traditionally associated with terror, panic and fear.

🌰 Walnut – traditionally associated with protection and adapting to change.

Every animal is different, so take the time to understand your pet's individual needs and help them feel safe, secure and loved. ❤️

Alongside any remedies, provide a quiet, cosy hiding place, keep windows and curtains closed, and offer plenty of reassurance.

Our furry friends rely on us to help them through the scary moments. 🐶🐱

Bloating after meals? 🌿 Fennel tea ☕️ is one of my favourite simple digestive remedies.

Fennel seeds contain natural plant compounds that can help relax the digestive tract, ease trapped wind and reduce that uncomfortable bloated, overly-full feeling.

To make it at home, add 2 teaspoons of organic fennel seeds to a cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain and enjoy warm.

It’s especially lovely after a meal when digestion feels a little sluggish.

Simple, inexpensive and naturally caffeine-free. 💙

A good reason to skip the fruit juice. 🍎🍊🧃

Fruit juice might look healthy, but once the fruit is juiced, it becomes very easy to consume a concentrated amount of sugar, including fructose without the fibre and structure of the whole fruit.

Fructose is strongly linked to the accumulation of fat in the liver and is an important dietary contributor to NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease).

So next time you're reaching for the juice, why not eat the whole fruit instead? 🍊

Your liver will thank you. 💙

We’ve become so focused on calories that we can forget to ask a much more important question:

What is this food actually giving my body?

Calories tell us how much energy food contains, but they don’t tell us how nourishing it is.

A plate built around quality protein, vegetables, healthy fats, fibre, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients can provide so much more than a calorie number ever could. 🥘🍲🍳

It’s not about obsessing over eating less.

It’s about choosing foods that nourish, fuel and support your body.

Look at your plate, not just the numbers. 💙

Thank you so much to Avril from Soulution Nutrition for very kindly gifting me this beautiful product from Living Nutrition 🙏💚

I had actually already bought a box myself to try, so when Avril gave me another one I was absolutely delighted, and very grateful for the opportunity to properly explore it. ❤️

What really caught my attention about this product is that it’s so much more than simply looking at a number of probiotic strains.

It contains 30+ billion live cultures across 120+ strains, within an organic fermented wholefood matrix, and naturally provides prebiotic and postbiotic nutrients too. 🌱

And there’s another reason I’m particularly interested in exploring this as a woman going through hormonal changes…

The gut and our hormones are much more connected than we often realise.

Our gut microbiome contains what is known as the estrobolome — a collection of microbial genes and enzymes involved in the metabolism and recycling of oestrogen.

In simple terms, the gut microbiome plays a role in how oestrogen is processed and recirculated in the body, which makes the gut–hormone connection particularly fascinating during perimenopause and menopause.

So for me, supporting microbial diversity, gut health and the environment in which our beneficial bacteria can thrive is an important part of looking after my health from within. 💚

I’m looking forward to properly trying this and seeing how I get on with it.

Thank you again, Avril and Living Nutrition 💙 I’m genuinely so grateful. 🙏✨

I really like this message from Dr Clare Nieland — healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated, restrictive or expensive. 🌿

You don’t need a cupboard full of expensive “superfoods” or another restrictive diet to support your health.

Often, it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference: eating more whole foods, reducing ultra-processed foods, cooking from scratch where possible and making small, realistic changes that you can actually maintain.

And importantly, healthy eating doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune. There are plenty of nutritious, budget-friendly foods that can form the foundation of a healthy diet.

A great reminder that nutrition is about what you do consistently, not about chasing perfection.

🍎🥦 One simple step I recommend when preparing fresh produce…

We can’t always avoid pesticide exposure completely, but we can take simple steps to reduce residues on the surface of our fruit and vegetables.

A bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) soak is a simple, inexpensive option that research suggests can help remove certain pesticide residues from the surface of produce.

⚠️ It’s important to understand the limitation: washing or soaking cannot remove pesticides that have already penetrated into the produce.

My approach is always reduce exposure where you can, without becoming overwhelmed by trying to make everything perfect.

If you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, taking a few extra minutes to wash and prepare them properly is a small habit that can make sense.

🌱 Small changes. Better choices. From within.
