What truly lies beneath the needle?

The lips may look simple from the outside, but beneath them lies a complex interplay of skin, soft tissue, orbicularis oris, labial glands, mucosa, vessels and nerves.

And unlike areas such as the cheek or temple, the lip isn’t a story of neatly defined fat compartments.

It’s a dynamic anatomical structure — and the vascular anatomy is particularly important, with the superior and inferior labial arteries showing considerable variation in their course and depth.

Because when we inject, we’re not injecting into a blank canvas.

We’re working within anatomy.

And knowing what lies beneath the needle isn’t just about achieving a beautiful result —
it’s about understanding the anatomy that makes that result possible.

Monday Philosophy

Natural results over trends.

What looks beautiful on one face may not necessarily belong on another.

In aesthetics, it can be tempting to chase what is currently popular — a certain lip shape, a sharper contour, more projection, more definition.
But I don’t believe a beautiful face should ever be created from a template.

Before I recommend a treatment, I look at the person, not the trend.

Their features.
Their proportions.
Their expressions.
Their age.
Their individuality.
And most importantly, what will still look like them when the trend has passed.

Because my goal is never to make my patients look like they’ve had something done.
I want them to look like the best version of themselves.

Subtle. Balanced. Natural.

The kind of result that makes someone say:

“You look so good.”

“What did you get done?”

For me, that is the beauty of aesthetic medicine.

Trust is built long before the first injection.

In aesthetics, the treatment may take minutes.

But the trust behind that treatment takes much longer to build.

It begins with a consultation.

With listening — really listening — to what a patient is saying, what they are hoping for, and sometimes even what they are afraid to say.

It is understanding their expectations before deciding what they actually need.

Because not every concern needs a procedure.
And not every expectation needs to be fulfilled exactly as imagined.

Sometimes, my role is to explain.
Sometimes, to recommend.
Sometimes, to manage expectations.
And sometimes, simply to say, “I don’t think you need this.”

For me, trust isn’t created when the needle enters the skin.

It is created when a patient feels heard, understood and safe enough to believe that my recommendation is based on what is right for them — not what is profitable for me.

That is the kind of relationship I want to build with every patient.

Because when trust comes first,
the treatment becomes a part of the relationship — not the reason for it.
