Karwa Chauth during pregnancy? Read this before you decide. 🤰
Love doesn’t have to be proven through hunger. Pregnancy requires regular food, hydration and rest. A full-day fast, especially without water, can carry risks. Here’s what to know 👇
🩺 1. Consult Your Doctor
Every pregnancy is different. Speak to your gynaecologist before fasting, even partially.
⛔ 2. Who Should Avoid Fasting?
Avoid fasting if you have:
• Gestational diabetes
• High BP or preeclampsia
• Anaemia or low weight
• Twins or multiple pregnancies
• Previous miscarriage or preterm labour
• Morning sickness, vomiting or a UTI
💧 3. Avoid Nirjala Fasting
Going without water can cause dehydration, dizziness, headaches and other complications.
🍽️ 4. Don’t Skip Meals
Long gaps between meals may lower blood sugar, causing weakness, shakiness or fainting.
🌿 5. Safer Ways to Observe Karwa Chauth
• Choose fruits, milk, nuts and coconut water if your doctor approves.
• Eat small, frequent meals.
• Participate in puja without fasting.
• Consider a symbolic fast with medical guidance.
🌅 6. Eat a Nourishing Sargi
Before sunrise, include fruits, dry fruits, paratha with dahi, paneer, milk, dates and plenty of water.
🌙 7. Break Your Fast Gently
Start with water or coconut water, followed by fruit or dates and a light, home-cooked meal. Avoid heavy, oily, fried or very sweet foods initially.
🛋️ 8. Rest and Stay Cool
Avoid heavy chores, prolonged standing, sun exposure and overexertion. Take regular breaks.
🚨 9. Know the Warning Signs
Stop fasting and seek immediate medical advice for dizziness, fainting, blurred vision, severe headache, palpitations, abdominal pain, cramps, reduced baby movements, very dark or little urine, vaginal bleeding or leaking fluid.
❤️ Remember: A healthy mother and baby are the greatest blessings. Your husband’s long life doesn’t depend on your hunger.
