🤩Diwali Sweets and Snacks Indulgence for DIETERS😋
Q: Diwali comes only once in a year. So is there a way to have all the yummy stuff and get away with it?
Ans: Yessss! You CAN enjoy Diwali faraal — with a little mindfulness💛
Here are my 12 golden rules to enjoy guilt-free:
1. Eat what you like, just less of it
Diet is about moderation & right choices. Indulge in 1 small piece / 1 small katori (40gm) once a day, preferably _before 12 pm._
2. Offered sugary sweets? Just take a small bite.No need to say yes to a full piece.
3. Follow regular meal timings.
Eat every 3 hours, don’t skip meals.
4. Compensate smartly
If you have faraal at a friend’s place in the evening, keep dinner super light — soup / lemon water / buttermilk / coconut water. Skip heavy carbs at night.
5. Strictly NO to Maida
Make shankarpali, chakli, namkeen with high-fibre flours — bajra, ragi, oats, soya + besan & emmer wheat/rice flour. Add methi, palak, coriander or mint for extra fibre.
6. Strictly NO to sugar-made sweets
Use healthier substitutes like Stevia /monk fruit sweetner or jaggery. Use natural sweeteners like dates, figs, raisins.
7. Drink 2-3 litres water daily
Helps flush extra oil & keeps you hydrated. Tip: Have lemon water after lunch & dinner.
8. Never skip a healthy breakfast.
9. Don’t skip your exercise routine
Walk 10 mins after every meal / snacking. Stay active all day.
10. Learn to say a big, polite NO 🙂
If relatives insist on sugar-loaded sweets.
11. Smartest choices in faraal:
Chiwada (dry roasted poha / puffed rice), Sev & Chakli / Murukku are lowest calorie. You can have 50gm daily without guilt — in limited quantity.
12. Don’t stock sweets
Pass gifts forward. After Diwali, distribute all leftover dabbas from fridge to your maid, driver, security guard — they need it more than u❤️
Let’s celebrate a Diwali that is delicious for the tongue AND kind to the body.
