Did you know that BIOMED POLYCLINIC LLP operates a Canon MRI system that was supplied and installed in a “live” condition at our Rangirkhari, Silchar facility?
What makes this installation even more remarkable is that the MRI machine was successfully installed on the first floor of our building without disrupting human movement through the ground-floor lobby—a rare and challenging engineering achievement.
The MRI system was fully powered on and tested at Canon’s Tokyo factory before shipment. It was then transported by sea in a specially designed container equipped with a compressor to maintain the required internal temperature, along with an inbuilt generator set (genset) to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the journey. As a result, the system remained operational from the factory floor to the installation site.
While this practice is commonly followed by leading MRI manufacturers in Europe, many MRI systems supplied across India, Asia, and several developing countries are often transported in a powered-down state to reduce logistics costs. Such systems are commissioned and made operational only after reaching the installation site.
For those unfamiliar with MRI technology, an MRI machine is not designed to remain completely switched off for extended periods. Even when not scanning patients, it requires continuous power support, along with a functioning chiller and air-conditioning system, to maintain optimal operating conditions and safeguard its highly sensitive components.
These stringent technical requirements, coupled with the need for uninterrupted environmental control, contribute significantly to the installation, maintenance, and operational costs of MRI services.
At BIOMED POLYCLINIC LLP, we continue to invest in advanced technology and infrastructure to ensure reliable, high-quality diagnostic services for our patients.
