LASEK & PRK both involve creating and lifting the thin Epithelium Corneal flap to access the deeper Corneal tissues for the Excimer Laser to treat the eye. Where LASEK preserves and replaces the flap, PRK removes it, for it to be regenerated.

What is PRK?

Photorefractive Keratectomy is similar to LASEK but differs by the Epithelium being removed for the Cornea to be reshaped with the Excimer Laser. A bandage contact lens is placed and the Epithelium is then allowed to regenerate.

What are Floaters?
.
Eye floaters are small pieces of debris that float in the eye’s Vitreous Humor and cast shadows onto the Retina; that you see floating across your field of vision.
There are 3 types of floaters:
-Fibrous Strand, appear as multiple dots or cobwebs
-Diffuse, appear cloudy
-Wiess Ring, which is a large Fibrous floater that is located away from the Crystalline Lens and the Retina
