🏆 We are honored to announce that OUI Inc. has received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Award at the "Award for Academic Startups 2026," hosted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and NEDO.

We are equally delighted that Keio University School of Medicine (Department of Ophthalmology) and Liberworks Co., Ltd. were recognized alongside us as our key academic and corporate supporters. This award truly reflects years of sustained industry-academia collaboration.

The award recognizes our work combining the Smart Eye Camera (SEC) — a smartphone-attached ophthalmic device born from clinical insights at Keio University — with AI and telemedicine to improve access to eye care in over 60 countries, contributing to blindness prevention in regions with limited medical resources, from remote islands in Japan to underserved communities across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

OUI Inc. exhibited at the African Ophthalmology Congress 2026, held in Cape Town, South Africa, from July 31 to August 2, 2026!
The congress brought together ophthalmologists and eye health stakeholders from all across Africa, and we received a tremendous response at our booth. At the congress Gala Dinner, our COO Shintaro Nakayama was also honored with the opportunity to deliver a speech on behalf of the exhibiting companies!

From June 4–6, 2026, OUI Inc. COO Shintaro Nakayama participated in IAPB (International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness) IN SIGHT LIVE KENYA, held in Nairobi, Kenya. He presented at a session introducing domestic and international telemedicine initiatives utilizing the Smart Eye Camera, and also exhibited at a booth.
The event brought together global eye care professionals not only from across Africa, but from Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America. We received a wide range of valuable feedback and responses regarding the potential and future direction of the Smart Eye Camera and OUI Inc.'s initiatives — making it an incredibly meaningful opportunity!
