I grew up hearing:
“My people perish for lack of knowledge.”
Today, I find myself thinking:
My people don’t always lack knowledge.
Sometimes, we know better — but still perish chasing validation.
Validation from society.
Validation from family.
Validation from strangers.
Validation from people who may not even be living the life we want.
Knowledge can show you the way.
But if validation matters more than conviction, you may still choose the crowd.
My people perish for lack of knowledge.
But sometimes, my people perish for validation.
